Accounting Manager – Business Unit Support

Reports to: Regional/BU Controller 
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location (Onsite): Brea, CA
Compensation: $115,000 - $135,000 + 15% bonus
  

The Opportunity
The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Regional/BU Controller and leadership team by delivering accurate, timely and decision-useful financial information. This role is a hands-on accounting leader who partners with operations, balancing individual tasks with oversight of shared services and local accounting.
This role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional with project-based industry experience who thrives in a fast-paced high-growth environment and demonstrates strong commercial and operational acumen.

Responsibilities
•    Prepare and deliver month-end close package and reporting in a timely manner. Support Regional/BU Controller to complete all necessary journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
•    Support Regional/BU Controller to oversee all aspects of accounting processes and transactions in coordination with shared services, including AP, AR, and general accounting, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and escalated appropriately.
•    Provide additional support to Regional/BU Controller and project and operations teams, including oversight of job costing, pricing analysis, customer terms, and revenue recognition.
•    Direct accounts receivable, cash flow management, and cash forecasting activities, including review of aging, collections strategy, and working capital performance.
•    Ensure adherence to Meriton accounting policies, US GAAP, and internal control standards; maintain strong documentation and approval frameworks.
•    Serve as primary local accounting lead for external audits including preparing schedules, reconciliations, and other requests from auditors and Meriton accounting.
The Required Profile
•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or equivalent professional experience)
•    5+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction, HVAC, or project-based services experience preferred
•    Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP; familiarity with ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) is highly desirable
•    ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) preferred
•    Fluent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
•    Strong business acumen with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•    Operations and commercial literacy
•    Ability to deliver accurate and detailed reports in a timely manner
•    CPA desired but not required

Other Skills & Abilities

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks. 
  
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
