San Bruno Skilled Nursing is seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support our Director of Nursing in overseeing the delivery of high-quality resident care. This leadership role is responsible for assisting with the management of nursing operations, staff development, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence within our skilled nursing facility.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) with planning, organizing, and supervising nursing department activities.
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies, procedures, and clinical programs.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining nursing staff.
- Assist with employee evaluations, coaching, performance management, and corrective action when necessary.
- Serve as a resource and backup to the DON, RN, and LVN teams.
- Provide direct resident care as needed to support clinical operations.
- Conduct daily rounds to monitor resident conditions and ensure quality care standards are met.
- Promote resident safety, dignity, rights, and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
- Attend and lead nursing department meetings in the absence of the DON.
- Prepare reports and provide recommendations regarding nursing services and operational improvements.
- Assist with the design and implementation of systems that support consistent, resident-centered care.
- Coordinate and facilitate ongoing staff education and in-service training programs.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding resident, employee, and facility information.
- Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations and communicate updates to staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current and unrestricted California RN license in good standing.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; PCC experience preferred.
- Must maintain required continuing education and licensure requirements.

- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and clinical operations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, physicians, and staff.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and perform nursing duties throughout the workday.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent use of computers, telephones, and office equipment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
