About Mach9

Mach9 is pioneering the next era of the surveying and geospatial industry. Our AI-driven platform opens up a world of possibilities for the millions of surveyors and civil engineers responsible for supporting the $3 trillion infrastructure industry. With our market-defining technology, engineers can leverage geospatial data to complete projects faster than ever before.

Our first product, Mach9 Digital Surveyor is transforming the highly-manual surveying workflows by automatically extracting features (such as signs, curbs, and utility poles, etc.) from large-scale imagery and 3D datasets—delivering results up to 96 times faster than today’s labor-intensive process. By dramatically scaling what surveyors can achieve, Mach9 empowers the industry to accelerate infrastructure development, improve decision-making, and fundamentally reshape the way we build and maintain our world.

Mach9 is backed by Quiet Capital, Y Combinator, Overmatch Ventures, Kyle Vogt (founder of Cruise), Amar Hanspal (former CEO of Autodesk), Scott Belsky (CPO of Adobe), Gokul Rajaram (former executive at DoorDash), and more.

Position Overview:

We're hiring a Business Development Representative to be the engine behind Mach9's pipeline, across both new logos and expansion within our existing customer base. You'll be on the front lines of a category being defined in real time: identifying the surveying and civil engineering companies and infrastructure owners that stand to gain the most from our AI CAD software, crafting outreach that actually resonates with technical buyers, and turning cold accounts into qualified opportunities for our Account Executives.

This is a true founding role. You won't inherit a polished playbook; you'll help write it. You'll work directly with our AEs and leadership, own real numbers, and see the direct line between your work and the company's growth. For the right person, this is the fastest path to an AE seat at Mach9. We promote from within, and the expectation is that a top-performing BDR earns that progression.

Responsibilities:

  • Outbound Pipeline Generation: Build qualified pipeline aligned with Mach9's ideal customer profile through highly personalized, multi-channel outbound including cold calling, email, LinkedIn, and industry events. Research accounts deeply enough to speak credibly to a survey manager or civil engineer about their workflows.

  • Expansion Prospecting: Partner with AEs to map existing customer organizations, identify new teams, offices, and project types where Digital Surveyor can expand, and generate qualified expansion opportunities within current accounts.

  • Inbound Qualification: Own prompt follow-up and qualification of inbound leads from demos, webinars, and events while ensuring no high-intent prospect goes cold and every AE handoff is clean and well-documented.

  • Discovery & Qualification: Run first-touch discovery conversations that uncover a prospect's current workflows, data types, pain points, and buying process. Qualify rigorously so our time is spent on real opportunities.

  • Playbook Development: Test messaging, sequences, and targeting; document what works. Contribute directly to Mach9's outbound playbook as we scale the go-to-market team.

  • Pipeline Hygiene & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all activity and account intelligence in our CRM. Provide data-driven insights on conversion rates, messaging performance, and market feedback to sales leadership.

  • Market & Product Feedback: Act as the voice of the prospect to relay objections, competitive intelligence, and feature requests to the product and marketing teams.

  • Quota Ownership: Consistently achieve and exceed monthly targets for qualified meetings and pipeline generated.

Requirements:

  • 1–2+ years in a sales development, business development, or similar pipeline-generation role at a fast-growing B2B SaaS company or exceptional early-career candidates with demonstrated hustle (athletics, entrepreneurship, competitive pursuits).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; your outreach reads like it was written by a human and not AI.

  • A track record of hitting or exceeding quota, with the numbers to back it up.

  • Genuine hunger: high activity levels, resilience through rejection, and ownership over your own day, pipeline, and results.

  • Genuine humility: coachable, feedback-seeking, and low-ego where you care more about getting better than being right.

  • Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and convey them credibly to technical audiences from surveyors, civil engineers, operations leaders to executives.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and building from scratch in an early-stage environment where the playbook doesn't exist yet, not one where it's handed to you.

  • Proficiency with modern sales tooling (Hubspot, Apollo, Clay, Heyreach and more tools).

  • Interest in infrastructure, geospatial technology, AEC, or adjacent industries is a plus

Join Mach9 and be the tip of the spear for our growth. Apply now and help bring cutting-edge geospatial AI to the people who build, maintain, and manage critical infrastructure globally.
