Work directly with the CEO on highest-priority company initiatives across go-to-market, pricing, partnerships, hiring, investor/board engagement, and strategy. Act as a trusted operator empowered to drive outcomes, represent the CEO, and move cross-functional work forward with urgency. Role is in-person in San Francisco, demanding, and intended as a multi-year growth opportunity into leadership.
About Alma

Alma is an AI law firm. We combine AI with an exceptional legal team to deliver fast, transparent, and high-touch legal services at a fraction of the cost of legacy firms. Our first market is immigration law.

Backed by Bling Capital, Forerunner, NFX, NEA and other leading VCs Alma serves both enterprise employers and individual applicants. Our AI-native platform automates case processing, compliance monitoring, and document generation cutting cycle times and improves user experience.

We are headquartered in Palo Alto with an office in SF.

The Role

This is not a traditional hire. You will be the CEO's right hand - part chief of staff, part dealmaker, part operator. You'll own the relationships, deals, and strategic initiatives that move the needle for Alma, while also rolling up your sleeves on whatever it takes to make the company succeed.

You'll sit at the intersection of business development, strategy, and operations. One day you're helping prepare for an important conference, the next you're helping prepare for a board meeting, and the day after you're figuring out how to onboard a big client. If you need a clearly defined lane, this isn't the role. If you thrive in ambiguity and want to build something massive, keep reading.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO on company-level priorities, GTM strategy, and fundraising preparation

  • Prepare materials for board meetings, investor updates, and strategic planning sessions

  • Run cross-functional projects that don't have a clear owner - the stuff that falls between the cracks but matters enormously

  • Represent Alma externally at conferences, industry events, and in prospect meetings alongside the CEO

  • Help shape and execute Alma's B2B go-to-market alongside Growth and Sales teams

  • Identify, negotiate, and close partnerships that accelerate Alma's growth

  • Build and manage relationships with enterprise HR leaders, global mobility heads, and immigration ecosystem players

  • Own the partner pipeline end-to-end: sourcing, pitching, structuring deals, and managing ongoing relationships

  • Develop channel partnerships that drive inbound enterprise leads

Do Whatever It Takes
  • Jump into urgent customer escalations when needed

  • Help recruit key hires by selling the Alma vision to candidates

  • Identify operational bottlenecks and fix them - even if it's outside your "job description"

  • Contribute to pricing strategy, competitive positioning, and market intelligence

Who You Are
  • 5–10 years of experience in chief of staff, strategy/ops, partnerships, GTM, or other high-leverage operating roles at fast-growing startups or tech companies, or a former MBB consultant seeking an execution-heavy operating seat

  • You thrive in ambiguity — you like fast-moving environments where the scope expands as the company grows.

  • You have commercial instinct — strong judgment, sharp prioritization, and a natural feel for what will drive revenue, unlock growth, or strengthen the business

  • You are a builder — you’ve operated at an early-stage company and know what it means to create structure from scratch, move fast, and own outcomes without hand-holding

  • You have dealmaker energy — you know how to open doors, build relationships, negotiate thoughtfully, and get things over the line

  • You want founder-level exposure — this is not a role for someone looking to be trained on how startups work. It is for someone who wants to be in the room, learn by doing, and get first-hand experience building a company up close

  • You are an exceptional communicator — credible with senior executives, clear internally, and persuasive in writing

  • You are resourceful, scrappy, and highly accountable — you do what it takes, fill gaps instinctively, and keep moving

  • You have presence — mature judgment, high EQ, and the ability to represent Alma with confidence in important conversations

Why Join Alma
  • Massive market — $15B U.S. immigration market ripe for disruption

  • Real traction — Venture-backed with strong revenue growth

  • Work directly with the CEO — This is a true right-hand role with visibility into every part of the business

  • Build something that matters — Immigration touches real lives. Every case we handle helps someone build their career and future in a new country
