Summary of Role:

The Cloud Architect / Solution Design Engineer is responsible for designing, architecting, and advancing cloud-based platforms and engineering solutions supporting GlobalFoundries' worldwide Design Engineering, Software Engineering, and R&D organizations.
This role will serve as a technical leader for AWS cloud architecture, platform engineering, automation, container orchestration, and developer enablement services used by a global engineering community exceeding 5,000 users across North America, Europe, and Asia.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing large-scale enterprise cloud environments, modern application platforms, DevOps ecosystems, CI/CD services, and cloud-native infrastructure supporting software development, EDA workloads, and engineering collaboration platforms.
The Cloud Architect will partner with Design Engineering, Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, SRE, and Operations teams to deliver secure, scalable, highly available, and automated solutions that accelerate product development and engineering productivity
Location: Dallas, TX or Santa Clara, CA
Reports To: Sr. Director, Design Engineering IT

Essential Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of enterprise IT experience
  • 5+ years designing large-scale AWS cloud solutions
  • Experience supporting organizations with 5,000+ users
  • Experience enabling global software engineering teams
  • Deep expertise with Kubernetes and container platforms
  • Strong Infrastructure-as-Code and automation experience
  • Experience designing platforms rather than simply administering them
  • Ability to translate business and engineering requirements into scalable reference architectures
  • Experience operating in highly regulated and security-conscious environments

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. 
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Expected Salary Range

$147,000.00 - $268,000.00
