Build and operate data pipelines that integrate customer financial data from ERPs, warehouses, and payment systems. Develop AI agents that automate ERP implementations, partner with implementation teams to understand and transform customer data, and contribute to shared AI platform capabilities. The role requires strong full-stack engineering fundamentals, autonomous execution, and comfort working in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.

About Us

Campfire builds modern ERP software for finance teams — bringing accounting, close, and reporting into one fast, intuitive system. We're a small, senior team obsessed with craft, speed, and making complex financial software feel simple.

About the Role 🌟

ERP implementations are one of the hardest unsolved problems in enterprise software. They're historically slow, manual, and consultant-heavy — months of spreadsheets, mapping documents, and billable hours. At Campfire, we're building AI agents to automate the heavy lifting and cut implementations from months to weeks.

As a Data Engineer, you'll be an architect of the agentic platform at the heart of that effort: the system that moves customers onto Campfire and keeps their financial data live and in sync once they're there. It's the machinery that determines how fast the company scales — every improvement you ship compounds across every future implementation.

This is not a traditional data engineering role. You won't be writing SQL inside someone else's ETL tool. You'll be building the platform itself, and the AI agents that run on it, with real ownership over what you build and work that ships to customers fast.

💼 We Need Someone Who

  • Designs and builds pipelines that move customer financial data reliably from source systems (ERPs, data warehouses, payment systems, etc) into Campfire — and keep it flowing once customers are live

  • Ships major features on the AI agent that drives customer implementations, expanding what it can handle autonomously

  • Partners with the implementation team to understand real customer data — what it looks like, what it means, and how it needs to transform — and turn those insights into platform capabilities

  • As you grow, contribute to Ember, the shared agent stack powering Campfire's AI products beyond data integration

👥 Ideal Candidate

  • Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals — our stack is Python, NextJS/React — and comfort building frameworks and tooling, not just the business logic inside them

  • Experience building and operating data pipelines. Snowflake experience is a plus, but not a requirement

  • Experience building AI agents or LLM-powered systems is a strong plus

  • Self-driven and autonomous — we trust you to take the reins, manage your own work, and lead projects to the finish line

  • Comfortable with agility and ambiguity — the team is lean and moves fast, and some of our hardest problems, like live data integration, don't have established playbooks yet. You'll help write them
