Job Description

We are looking for a skilled SAP Commerce Developer to implement, enhance, test, document, and support SAP Commerce solutions while working closely with Senior Developers, Technical Leads, and cross-functional teams to deliver assigned support and build tasks within agreed scope, quality, and timelines.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on development expertise, experience working in SAP Commerce projects, and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, technical leads, business analysts, and product owners to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical
    • Develop, customize, and maintain SAP Commerce modules and extensions.
    • Clarify requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and assigned scope before starting build, and implement approved business requirements using SAP Commerce best practices.
    • Develop storefront, OCC APIs, and backend customizations.
    • Create reusable components and services to support application scalability.
    • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, development activities, and maintain timely updates on task status, blockers, and remaining effort.
    • Analyse and resolve application defects and incidents, escalating blockers or risks promptly when resolution depends on additional inputs or decisions.
    • Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues.
    • Support production deployments and post-release validations.
    • Participate in on-call and support activities as required.
    • Maintain technical documentation.
    • Participate in RCA creation.
    • Ensure assigned tickets meet SLA expectations.
  • Functional
    • Own assigned business domains such as Product Catalog, Pricing, Content Management, Customer Management, Orders, Search, or Integrations, while staying within approved scope and raising gaps or ambiguities early.
    • Understand end-to-end business processes, acceptance criteria, priorities, and expected outcomes associated with the assigned capability.
    • Participate in business impact analysis during incidents and releases.
    • Support continuous improvements that directly improve business operations.
  • Build and Support integrations with:
    • SAP S/4HANA
    • SAP ECC
    • SAP CPI
    • Payment gateways
    • Third-party logistics providers
    • CRM and marketing platforms
  • Quality
    • Write unit tests and support integration testing and maintain unit test coverage >85%
    • Perform code reviews where applicable, respond to review comments, and incorporate feedback thoroughly before closure.
    • Ensure adherence to coding standards and development guidelines.
    • Support defect fixes during UAT and production rollout activities, with a focus on first-time-right resolution and avoiding repeat reopenings.
    • Follow required change, testing, version-control, and deployment procedures for all assigned changes.
  • Collaboration
    • Work with cross-functional teams in Agile delivery environments and communicate status, blockers, and questions promptly.
    • Assist in technical documentation and knowledge transfer activities.
    • Collaborate with Senior Developers and Technical Leads to improve solution quality.
    • Participate in design discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Complete annual SAP Commerce learning objectives and regularly use approved delivery, collaboration, code-quality, and productivity tools.
    • Participate in knowledge sharing sessions.
    • Contribute to reusable assets, small automation ideas, and process improvements that improve personal and team effectiveness.

Required Skills & Experience

SAP Commerce Expertise

  • 5 - 8 years of hands-on development experience, including strong SAP Commerce (Hybris) implementation, enhancement, and production-support exposure.
  • Experience following code review, version-control, testing, documentation, and change-management practices in enterprise delivery environments.
  • Hands-on experience using Agile delivery and task tracking tools to maintain accurate task status, estimates, blockers, and closure updates.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • SAP Commerce Cloud, Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot
    • SAP Commerce OCC APIs, REST/SOAP Web Services
    • Microservices Architecture, Integration Patterns and Middleware
    • Database Technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
    • Git, Jenkins, CI/CD implementation and DevOps practices

Integration Experience

Experience building, supporting, validating, and troubleshooting SAP Commerce integrations with:

  • SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP CPI
  • Payment Gateways, 3rd party logistics providers, CRM and Marketing Platforms and Third-Party Services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on SAP Commerce B2B implementations.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum practices.
  • Experience supporting production systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts.
  • Exposure to structured learning plans, knowledge-sharing activities, or SAP Commerce certification paths.
  • Experience contributing to minor automation, reusable components, or process improvements.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities, including timely status updates, clear escalation of blockers, and active collaboration with Senior Developers and Technical Leads.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements with a customer-focused attitude.
  • Attention to detail and quality, with a focus on first-time-right delivery, review feedback closure, and defect prevention.
