This role emphasizes automation-first practices, system reliability, security integration, and continuous improvement to support mission-critical workloads and modern engineering teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, deployment, and release processes.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or similar technologies.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment workflows, release quality, and environment consistency across development, staging, and production.
- Automate operational processes, including provisioning, configuration management, patching, scaling, and recovery procedures.
- Support cloud-native and containerized application deployments across Azure and other cloud platforms as needed.
- Maintain and improve development and deployment tooling, including source control integrations, artifact management, and pipeline orchestration.
- Partner with Azure Platform Engineers to ensure infrastructure and platform services meet delivery, security, and operational requirements.
- Work with Site Reliability Engineers and development teams to improve observability, resiliency, and incident response readiness.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities to support application and infrastructure health.
- Embed security best practices into delivery pipelines, including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, policy enforcement, and access controls.
- Support release planning and deployment readiness by validating environments, automating checks, and reducing manual handoffs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across build pipelines, deployment workflows, infrastructure, and runtime environments.
- Document deployment processes, operational procedures, and engineering standards to improve consistency and maintainability.
- Continuously identify opportunities to reduce toil, improve speed, and increase reliability through automation and process optimization.
- Stay current with emerging DevOps tools, engineering practices, and cloud delivery trends.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- U.S. citizen required; active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one due to DLA enclave access.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or related roles.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or equivalent.
- Experience working in cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP, with Azure strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of software delivery practices, version control systems, branching strategies, and release management.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of cloud security fundamentals, including identity and access management, secrets handling, and secure configuration practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across pipelines, infrastructure, applications, and networking layers.
- Experience working in regulated or high-compliance environments (e.g., FedRAMP, DoD, or similar) is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
- Proven time management, organizational and follow-up skills to meet deadlines.
- Work effectively, independently, and in a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be willing to learn new technologies and processes as needed.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience supporting U.S. government or regulated cloud environments.
- Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST, or similar compliance frameworks.
- Experience with GitOps, policy as code, or deployment governance practices.
- Knowledge of secrets management and secure software supply chain tools.
- Experience with reusable pipeline templates and internal developer platform concepts.
