About the Role

We’re looking for a strategic, creative, and highly skilled communicator to shape the voice of eBay’s CEO.

As Director, CEO Communications, you’ll develop and drive the strategy that amplifies the CEO’s voice and visibility across media, internal platforms, industry events, and social channels. You’ll tell stories that highlight eBay’s purpose, innovation, and impact — building meaningful connections with employees, customers, investors, and global audiences.

The ideal candidate is a sharp strategist and exceptional writer who can distill complex ideas into authentic, inspiring narratives. You’re comfortable working in fast-paced, high-stakes environments, leveraging AI and have a deep understanding of media and executive positioning, while balancing big-picture thinking with hands-on execution.

What You’ll Accomplish:
  • Develop and execute the CEO communications strategy to enhance eBay’s reputation and thought leadership globally.

  • Partner directly with the CEO and executive leadership team to craft compelling narratives that align with company priorities and values.

  • Write and edit high-impact content, including speeches, op-eds, talking points, video scripts, and social media posts.

  • Lead external visibility efforts, including media engagements, industry events, and executive interviews.

  • Collaborate closely with Internal Communications, Policy, and Corporate Communications, to ensure consistency across internal and external messaging.

  • Provide strategic counsel and real-time communications support for major company announcements, milestones, and sensitive moments.

  • Monitor emerging trends and opportunities to proactively position the CEO and eBay as leaders in global commerce and innovation.

What You’ll Bring
  • 12+ years of experience in executive communications, public relations, or corporate storytelling within a global organization and public company.

  • Proven success shaping executive visibility and thought leadership across multiple channels.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills — with the ability to match tone, voice, and message to audience and platform.

  • Deep understanding of media relations, social strategy, and content creation for executives.

  • Comfort providing counsel to senior leaders with sound judgment and discretion.

  • Experience managing complex communications moments, from strategic announcements to issues response.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
