Basic Function

As a part of the Engineering team, the Sr. Electrical Engineer will provide subject matter expertise on Electrical Engineering design (LV, MV, and HV), final engineering, and construction permitting of data center projects. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that all electrical designs are optimized for efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. 

In addition to technical responsibilities, this individual will lead and develop a team of engineers, driving consistency, quality, and continuous improvement across projects. 

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage Electrical Engineering design standards to set requirements for quality, presentation standards, and cost-effectiveness 
  • Perform project design reviews at specific milestones throughout the final design process and coordinating other internal reviews and approvals by key stakeholders, as needed 
  • Provide technical guidance on electrical systems design, including power distribution, backup power, grounding, and controls  
  • Review and support RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and submittals 

 

  • Provide technical review and guidance on equipment selection and approved vendor list 
  • Support O&M team with technical knowledge and troubleshooting 
  • Design and manage the data center white space, including rack layout, hot/cold containment, network infrastructure, branch circuit distribution, power requirements, cable pathways, and projected build phases. 
  • Collaborate with colo providers and internal stakeholders to deliver project design criteria and develop Basis of Design. 
  • Participate in the development of data center facilities requirements documentation. 
  • Research and evaluate new designs, materials, and construction methods for data center electrical and mechanical equipment and related components. 
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and clearly communicate necessary or recommended updates to project scheduling. 
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred); PE license a plus  
  • 8-12+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within data centers, mission-critical, or large-scale industrial/commercial projects  
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems, including distribution, backup power, and critical infrastructure  
  • Experience reviewing designs, coordinating with external partners, and supporting construction or project delivery  
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor or manage engineers in a team environment  
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC)  
  • Experience with design tools (e.g., AutoCAD or similar) and interpreting construction documents  
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills  
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 

Location: Redwood City, CA or Denver, CO or San Diego, CA or Remote

Base Pay - $190,000-$230,000

The pay range mentioned above is a guideline. We tailor each offer based on your unique skills, experience, location, and market benchmarks—while ensuring internal parity across our teams. In addition to competitive base pay, total compensation may include a discretionary annual bonus and a market leading comprehensive health and wellness benefits package. Final details will be discussed during the later stages of the hiring process.
