Company Overview

Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.

We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources – including solar, gas, and batteries – at a massive scale.

And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.

We’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.

Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.

Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.

Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.

With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.

Join us in building the power foundation of the future!

Role Summary

The Director of FP&A will lead Amperesand’s financial planning engine, driving forecasting, financial performance analysis, and strategic decision support for a rapidly scaling energy technology company. This role requires a first-principles thinker with a strong bias for action who can translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights. You will partner closely with executives across the business to ensure our financial foundation scales with our ambition.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes to ensure accuracy, visibility, and alignment with strategic goals.

  • Own financial performance analysis, including monthly and quarterly reporting, variance analysis, and executive-level insights.

  • Build and maintain scalable financial and operational models to support scenario planning, capital allocation, and strategic decision-making.

  • Partner with leaders across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Product Management, Project Management, and Go-To-Market to drive operating rigor and identify key performance drivers.

  • Develop, refine, and manage KPIs that measure financial and operational health across the business.

  • Support product and manufacturing finance, including unit economics, cost curves, BOM analysis, and capacity planning.

  • Lead financial analysis for pricing strategy, new product introductions, investment decisions, and major customer deals.

  • Drive the implementation and optimization of financial systems and tools—including the company’s ERP system and planning/analysis platforms—to improve data integrity, streamline workflows, and eliminate manual processes.

  • Lead the design of scalable financial data architecture, reporting automation, dashboards, and integrated models that enhance speed, accuracy, and decision-making across the organization.

  • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, and IT to ensure system integrations support real-time visibility into product costs, inventory, production, and company-wide financial performance.

  • Prepare materials for executive leadership and board-level communications.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or corporate finance, ideally in hardware, manufacturing, energy, or other complex operational environments.

  • Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex operational data into clear insights and recommendations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading financial performance analysis, executive reporting, and strategic decision support in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Go-To-Market teams.

  • Deep familiarity with product and manufacturing finance, including unit economics, cost modeling, cost curves, and capacity planning.

  • Deep expertise in financial systems architecture—ERP, planning/analysis platforms, dashboards, and data pipelines—with a track record of automating end-to-end workflows, integrating cross-functional data sources, and transforming manual, spreadsheet-driven processes into scalable, automated financial infrastructure.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and present complex topics clearly and concisely.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems; experience with BI tools and modern planning software is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.

  • High degree of ownership, bias for action, and comfort operating in a rapidly scaling, high-change environment.

Please note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options.

Salary Range: $240-$255k base + options
