Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.

We are looking for a commercially minded, strategic, and agile Director, HR Business Partner to lead strategy and execution for our Data & Applications (Data & Apps) business unit. In this high-impact leadership role, you will act as a core operating partner to the CEO of Data & Apps, as well as their executive leadership team and key cross-functional stakeholders.

You will operate as a business-first leader who leverages talent, structure, and organizational design to accelerate growth and commercial success. As the dedicated People Lead, you will manage a team of 2-3 HR Business Partners and take ownership of guiding and supporting the People strategy across the entire Data & Apps business unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executive Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner, to the CEO of Data & Apps and their direct leadership team, aligning people strategies directly with commercial growth goals.
  • Business Unit Accountability: Take end-to-end accountability for the health, engagement, structure, and performance of the Data & Apps organization.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and coach a team of 2–3 HR Business Partners in a fluid, high-growth environment, helping to drive their professional growth and skill development.
  • Commercial & Strategic Alignment: Partner with leadership to help them translate commercial objectives (revenue targets, product launches, market expansion) into actionable workforce, talent, and organizational designs.
  • Agile Problem Solving: Approach business challenges with flexibility, creativity, good judgment, and speed while prioritizing pragmatic, outcome-driven solutions.
  • Organizational Design & Talent Strategy: Proactively evaluate team structures, workforce planning, succession management, and talent density to support growth and matrixed team dynamics.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Leverage people metrics and commercial data to identify trends, mitigate retention risks, and guide strategic decision-making across leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Partner closely with People Centers of Excellence—including Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Talent Development, Legal, and People Ops—to execute customized solutions tailored to Data & Apps.

Qualifications & Leadership Profile

  • Commercial & Business Acumen: Highly commercially minded with a track record of supporting revenue-generating, tech, or commercial teams (e.g., Sales, Product, GTM, or Business Units).
  • Agile & Solutions-Oriented Mindset: Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments with ambiguous parameters, prioritizing business speed and flexibility while managing risk.
  • Pragmatic Partnering: A track record of acting as an agile business enabler rather than a policy administrator.
  • People Leadership Experience: Direct experience managing, developing, and inspiring a team of HR professionals or business partners.
  • Executive Presence & Influence: Exceptional communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated success influencing C-suite and SVP/VP-level executives.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive HR/People experience, including significant experience as a strategic HRBP supporting business or tech organizations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience required.
