What We Need:

The Director, HR Systems & Total Rewards will report directly to the Chief People Officer. This team member is responsible for the systems, tools, and infrastructure that power Synapse Health's People function; maturing the HR technology stack, leading compensation strategy and analysis in close partnership with the Chief People Officer and building the shared services foundation that allows the People team to operate efficiently and scale.

What You Will Do:

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for maturing the HR technology stack, including the HRIS and adjacent tools, in coordination with the VP of People Operations and existing HRIS evaluation efforts.
  • Lead the People team's approach to AI enablement — identifying where AI can improve workflows, capability-building, and change adoption across the organization, while supporting Synapse Health's broader AI enablement strategy from a people and workforce readiness perspective.  Partner directly with the Chief People Officer to shape and evolve the organization's compensation strategy and philosophy.
  • Oversee compensation analysis — benchmarking, pay equity, banding, and structure — ensuring competitiveness and internal consistency.
  • Manage a Compensation Analyst, providing guidance and quality control on analysis and recommendations.
  • Translate compensation strategy into scalable frameworks, tools, and guidelines that People Partners and managers can apply confidently.
  • Lead the build-out of a shared services model that supports the People team's operational needs efficiently and consistently.
  • Design and manage workflows and processes that reduce manual work and create repeatable, scalable operating models.
  • Own vendor relationships across HR technology, including the benefits vendor relationship in partnership with People Partners, ensuring smooth administration and a strong employee experience.
  • Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone processes across the People function and lead their automation.

Note: These responsibilities reflect the general nature and scope of the role but are not exhaustive. Responsibilities may evolve to meet changing business needs.

What You Have:

At Synapse Health, we’ve intentionally built a culture rooted in kindness, collaboration, and creativity, qualities we consider essential for every team member. Additional requirements include:

  •  Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CCP) is a plus.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in HR Operations, People Operations, HRIS, or Total Rewards, including experience managing HR technology platforms.
  • Direct experience with compensation strategy, analysis, or program management (banding, benchmarking, pay equity).
  • Proven ability to lead system implementations, configurations, or major HRIS transitions.
  • People management experience, including developing analyst-level talent.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and ability to learn department and job-specific software systems.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills when problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Experience managing vendor relationships and system integrations across HR tech tools.
  • Track record of building scalable processes and automating manual workflows.
  • Comfortable operating as a close partner to the Chief People Officer on compensation matters — credible, data-driven, and confident presenting recommendations at the executive level.
  • Willing to challenge convention and push for better ways of working, even when it creates friction.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this position is $135,000 – $190,000 annually. This range reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Final compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, demonstrated skills, internal equity, and prevailing market conditions. Compensation discussions are encouraged throughout the hiring process.
