Overview

At Microsoft Advertising we create innovative technology for a conversational, personalized, and agentic era. Our commitment to more private and personalized advertising experiences means building globally scaled platforms that ensure performance, trust, and business growth. We do this by harnessing the full power of AI and our unique audience intelligence to make delivering personalized advertising for any outcome simple, including unparalleled access to Microsoft's high intent, highly engaged audiences across Copilot, Bing, Xbox, Gaming, MSN, Outlook, Edge, LinkedIn, Windows, and high-quality supply from publishers.

The Director of Marketing Operations & Growth Systems leads the operating engine of Microsoft Advertising (MSA) Marketing. That engine is the people, processes, platforms and data that turn marketing investment into pipeline and revenue. This person owns three connected areas:

  • Marketing operations: the operating model, planning rhythm, workflows and governance that let marketing teams execute well at scale.
  • Growth systems: the marketing technology stack, data and automation that power campaigns and the full lead lifecycle. This covers capture, enrichment, scoring and routing through to handoff to Sales.
  • Transformation: modernizing how marketing works, including using AI and agents where they clearly improve speed, quality or results.

The role sits within the MSA Marketing Strategy, Growth & Operations team. It serves Brand, Events, Customer & Partner, and Growth Marketing, and it partners closely with Marketing Science, Sales, Finance, Product and Engineering. This leader manages a team of marketing operations and marketing technology managers. They are the single point of accountability for how marketing work gets done and how it converts into business growth.

Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least three days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing operations strategy: Defines and runs the operating model for MSA Marketing, including planning, intake, workflow, campaign execution standards and operating rhythm. Uses modern AI and automation capabilities to accelerate process design, documentation, alignment and execution, while making sure teams across Brand, Events, Customer & Partner, and Growth Marketing work from shared processes, systems and data.
  • Marketing transformation: Sets and drives the roadmap to modernize how Marketing plans, builds, runs and measures its work, applying AI and automation where they deliver measurable gains. Operates as a tech-forward, early adopter who actively explores emerging AI, agentic and automation capabilities, models their use in day-to-day work, and identifies opportunities to improve how the broader organization operates. Moves from pilots to scaled adoption, with clear business cases and measured productivity and performance gains.
  • Automated and agentic workflows: Partners with Engineering and Product to design, build and launch automated workflows and AI agents. Examples include campaign planning assistants and marketing tactic tools that cut cycle time and manual effort.
  • Lead generation and lifecycle management: Owns the end-to-end lead strategy and framework: lead capture, enrichment, scoring, routing, nurture and handoff to Sales. Defines lead stages, service-level agreements and conversion standards with Sales so pipeline is trusted and acted on.
  • Lead acquisition, quality and conversion: Partners across Growth Marketing and Sales to improve customer and lead acquisition, lead volume, quality and speed-to-sale through audience and channel optimization, experimentation, data enrichment, propensity and predictive scoring, segmentation and testing. Reports lead funnel performance from top-of-funnel through pipeline and revenue.
  • Growth systems and martech stack: Owns the strategy, roadmap and health of the martech stack, including CRM and marketing automation (such as Dynamics 365 and HubSpot), marketing resource management, and data and integration layers. Drives platform consolidation, integration and adoption.
  • Data, governance and compliance: Builds privacy-first practices, consent management, data quality standards and responsible AI principles into every system, workflow and automation.
  • Cross-team partnership and thought leadership: Works with Marketing Science, Sales, Finance, Product and Engineering to align priorities, dependencies and roadmaps. Serves as a thought leader on modern marketing operations, martech, AI and growth systems, bringing emerging practices and capabilities into the organization and helping teams determine where they can create meaningful business value. Gives Marketing one clear voice on operations and technology needs.
  • People leadership: Leads, coaches and develops a team of marketing operations and marketing technology managers. Sets clear ownership, goals and accountability, leads by example in adopting new technologies and ways of working, and enables the team to experiment, learn and continuously evolve its capabilities.
  • Executive communication and operating visibility: Establishes a proactive communication rhythm that keeps leadership informed of progress, priorities, risks, decisions and what's next across Marketing Operations and Growth Systems. Creates clear mechanisms for status, expectation-setting and escalation so leaders have visibility without creating unnecessary operating overhead.
  • Change management and adoption: Leads adoption of new systems, processes and tools across a large marketing organization. Builds teams' skills and confidence through training, enablement and clear standards.
  • Program leadership: Drives large, multi-semester operations and systems initiatives. Tracks milestones, budgets and deliverables, and proactively resolves blockers and risks across senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Insights for leadership: Turns operational, funnel and system-performance data into clear recommendations for leadership on priorities, investment and process changes.

First-year priorities:

  • Publish the Marketing Operations & Growth Systems roadmap, including priority AI and automation use cases.
  • Finalize and operationalize the lead strategy framework with Sales, including shared definitions, service-level agreements and funnel reporting.
  • Deliver a rationalized martech roadmap with clear ownership across the team.
  • Keeping the operating model current: Evolves processes, platforms and capabilities as business priorities, channels and technology change.
