Summary Description 

 

The Payroll Director is responsible for managing both the US Payroll Team and Global Stock Team. The Payroll Director leads and works collaboratively with the US Payroll Team to ensure timely and accurate processing of the bi-weekly payroll and off-cycle stock payrolls. As part of that leadership, the Payroll Director will support all Payroll reconciliations, review Stock initiatives, support all SOX reviews and analysis, and be the lead facilitator of project work with other groups and business partners. The candidate must manage and support quarterly and annual information requests from various groups including the Corporate Tax, Property Tax, Benefits, Global Finance, Financial Planning, Treasury, Talent Acquisition, Data Security, Internal Audit, Global Security, as well as HR Business partners.  

The candidate will have experience in project management, account analysis, employment tax and tax amendment experience, SOX analysis, audit management, payroll reconciliations, payroll and time & attendance reporting and analysis. The position should demonstrate the ability to produce SOPs as well as support cross training for both the payroll and stock teams. The candidate should be able to lead projects and speak to larger groups when participating in projects, initiatives, SOX walkthroughs, and group events.  

 

Responsibilities  

 

Payroll Responsibilities  

  • Manage all aspects of payroll, manage the Payroll Team ensuring payroll processing timelines are met.  
  • Manage internal payroll controls; ensuring proper procedures, policies, and rules are applied to all payroll processes.  
  • Strong understanding of ACA requirements and ability to coordinate with Benefit Team to support updates and year end filing.  
  • Strong understanding of Regular Rate of Pay calculations and Meal Premiums.  
  • Strong understanding of Garnishment types and rules.  
  • Strong understanding of data security and record retention.  
  • Manage and lead year end processes with the Payroll Team as well as other business partners to ensure successful completion.  
  • Manage timely quarterly and annual tax reconciliations as well as W-2 and W-2C issuance; must demonstrate a working knowledge of multi-jurisdictional, local and federal employment tax rules and regulations.  
  • Manage special projects, Workers Comp Audit, 401k Audit, Internal/External Audit Requests, Data Security Requests, and Legal Requests.  
  • Work with internal and external auditors for all SOX inquiries including system security, employee changes and new hire onboarding.  
  • Manage the data integration feeds for all vendors in coordination with the payroll service.  
  • Maintain internal relationships with all business groups and support mutual process dependencies, internal controls and reporting requests.  
  • Manage all testing and support of the ADP Bridge with the HR Technical group and IT for all quarterly and open enrollment Oracle Fusion Patch testing.  

 

Scope  

 

Payroll:  Bi-weekly payroll processing for approximately 2,500 US employees, several individual international employees.  

Stock:  Bi-annual ESPP purchase, contract management, collaboration with Stock Team on all required activities, projects and reporting.  

 

Education  

 

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Accounting, Finance or business subject with Payroll work experience preferred. Current membership with the APA/Payroll Org and CPP required.  

 

Experience  

 

10+ years of payroll processing experience preferably in manufacturing with experience in calculating the regular rate of pay.  

Excellent organization, follow-through, initiative and payroll processing or analyst aptitude are preferred.
