Job Description

We're looking for a Director to lead U.S. tax provision, planning, and compliance for the organization, reporting to the Sr Tax Director. In this role, you'll own the income tax provision process end-to-end, drive federal and state tax planning initiatives, and manage a team while partnering closely with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and Treasury. You'll also serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and advisors on U.S. tax matters. The ideal candidate should be an experienced tax leader who combines deep technical expertise with strong people-management and cross-functional influence. Key Responsibilities

  • Own the quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision process (ASC 740), including tax account reconciliations, financial statement disclosures, and technical tax memos, and oversee the monthly close process.
  • Lead U.S. federal and state tax planning, including identifying, evaluating, and implementing planning opportunities to optimize the company's effective tax rate and cash tax position.
  • Lead U.S. federal and state income tax compliance, including review of tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions prepared internally or by external advisors.
  • Oversee forecasting of the U.S. income tax rate and cash taxes to support quarterly guidance and long-range planning.
  • Manage U.S. transfer pricing compliance and coordinate with international tax colleagues on cross-border planning, withholding tax, and Pillar Two implications.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors on U.S. tax provision matters, and manage relationships with outside tax advisors and counsel.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams — including Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Legal, and Treasury — at all levels of the organization.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop tax team members, building bench strength across the provision and compliance functions.
  • Monitor U.S. tax legislative and regulatory developments, and assess and communicate their impact on the company.
  • Maintain and strengthen SOX internal controls over the tax provision and compliance process.
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, leveraging tax technology to increase efficiency and accuracy across the tax calculation process.
  • Lead or contribute to ad hoc tax projects, including M&A, restructuring, and other special initiatives, as priorities arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field required; Master's in Taxation a plus.
  • CPA preferred
  • 14+ years of relevant tax experience, ideally including time at a Big 4 accounting firm as well as significant in-house industry experience, with prior people-management experience.
  • High-tech industry experience in California required.
  • Deep technical knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. federal and state income tax law.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Experience with OneSource tax software preferred.

Additional Information

This position is also eligible to participate in Solidigm's restricted stock unit (RSU), restricted cash unit (RCU), and cash bonus programs.
