The Opportunity

Join the team transforming how we connect millions of people to musculoskeletal care. As the Engineering Manager for Growth, you will lead a highly technical pod (8–12 engineers) at the intersection of data engineering, clinical outcomes, and product impact. You will own the modernization of our data ingestion pipeline and scale our automated claims analysis engine—turning raw healthcare data into trustworthy insights that drive measurable business outcomes. In this role, you won’t just manage; you will partner closely with data science to build predictive models and reliable systems that influence decisions across the entire organization.

What You'll Accomplish

  • Drive Technical Strategy: Collaborate with product partners and Growth leaders to execute a robust roadmap for scaling data automations, ingestion pipelines, and analysis tools.

  • Build High-Performing Teams: Hire, coach, and mentor engineers, guiding them toward long-term professional growth while maintaining a culture of continuous feedback and high performance.

  • Elevate Engineering Standards: Scale the team with a focus on technical proficiency and AI integration, ensuring our systems meet the highest standards of observability and compliance.

  • Deliver Measurable Impact: Lead your team to consistently deliver on a collaboratively defined roadmap, ensuring "shovel-ready" work through a well-groomed backlog and prioritized sprint goals.

  • Optimize Workflows: Lead organizational initiatives to improve processes, implementing practical, lightweight, and measurable workflows that resolve technical and resource challenges.

Who You Are

  • A Technical Leader: You have deep backend experience (Node.js, Python, SQL) and are comfortable diving into the code (~15% of your time) to merge PRs and guide technical decision-making.

  • A People-First Manager: You have a proven track record of managing teams of 4+ engineers, resolving interpersonal conflicts, and finding creative resourcing solutions.

  • A Strategic Thinker: You can navigate the ambiguity of a high-growth environment, partnering with cross-functional teams to turn complex data challenges into scalable product solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 8+ years of non-internship full-time professional experience in the technology industry, focused on SaaS products and large-scale, complex systems.

  • 2+ years of experience managing an engineering team of 4+ direct reports.

  • 2+ years of experience mentoring team members, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving project planning.

  • 2+ years of experience resolving interpersonal conflicts and navigating resource tradeoffs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Backend experience with technologies such as: NestJS, Apache Kafka, BullMQ, Databricks.

  • Expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and SQL.

  • Hands-on experience with AI tooling (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and architectures.

  • Hands-on experience with Tuva or similar healthcare data analytics platforms.
