About this opportunity:
Head of Silicon CAD - AI-Driven Silicon CAD & Methodology
Ericsson Silicon - Austin, TX, Where AI Meets the Future of Silicon
This is an on-site, hybrid work opportunity. This position is not open to remote work.
The next era of silicon engineering isn't just about better tools or faster flows. It's about fundamentally reimagining how chips are built - and at Ericsson Silicon, we're doing exactly that.
We are assembling a unified Silicon CAD organization - spanning Front-End CAD to Back-End CAD - with a singular mission: make silicon development smarter, faster, and more predictable through AI, automation, and world-class methodology. From RTL to GDSII, we are rebuilding the execution backbone of modern chip engineering from the ground up.
This is your chance to lead that transformation.
Why This Role Is Different
Most CAD leadership roles ask you to maintain what exists. This one asks you to invent what comes next.
You won't just manage tools and flows - you'll shape how Artificial Intelligence enters the silicon design process. You'll build the engineering intelligence layer that powers Ericsson's 5G and 6G silicon ambitions. You'll influence EDA vendor roadmaps, pioneer AI-assisted workflows, and lead a globally distributed team of world-class engineers who are rewriting the rules of chip development.
If you've ever wanted to leave a permanent mark on how silicon gets built - this is that opportunity.
About Ericsson Silicon
We are the team inside Ericsson that turns architectural vision into physical silicon. Our engineering unit develops state-of-the-art ASICs and FPGAs targeting the most advanced technology nodes on the planet, powering Ericsson's 5G and 6G telecommunications portfolio.
We move fast, we think deep, and we build things that matter - at global scale.
What You'll Own
As Head of Silicon CAD, you'll lead a globally distributed organization responsible for the methodologies, infrastructure, tools, and engineering systems that enable high-quality, predictable silicon execution at every stage of development.
You'll operate at the intersection of four high-impact domains:
Methodology Innovation - setting the standard for how silicon gets built.
AI-Enabled Engineering - deploying intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and engineering copilots that change the game.
EDA & Foundry Strategy - building the partnerships and ecosystem influence that shape industry roadmaps.
Execution & Operational Excellence - turning strategy into delivery, reliably, at scale.
Your Mission
Define and execute the long-term vision for a unified Silicon CAD organization spanning FE CAD and BE CAD.
Lead end-to-end CAD capabilities from RTL to GDSII - simulation, synthesis, CI/CD, P&R, STA, and signoff flows - with precision and scalability.
Pioneer AI-driven silicon engineering - intelligent automation, AI-assisted design workflows, predictive tape-out analytics, and next-generation engineering copilots.
Drive standardization and innovation across methodologies, infrastructure, and engineering workflows at global scale.
Build strategic EDA and foundry partnerships that give Ericsson a technical edge and help shape what the industry builds next.
Lead methodology transformation initiatives targeting productivity, PPA optimization, and execution predictability.
Build and develop world-class CAD teams across global sites - attracting, growing, and inspiring top engineering talent.
Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, innovation, and relentless improvement.
Enable faster, higher-quality silicon delivery by turning data, automation, and AI into a genuine competitive advantage.
Join our Team
What You Bring
Several years in semiconductor engineering, with significant leadership in Silicon CAD, design methodology, or silicon infrastructure.
Deep expertise across FE CAD and BE CAD - you understand the full flow from RTL to GDSII and can lead at every layer.
Proven experience scaling CAD organizations in demanding, high-performance silicon environments.
Demonstrated success partnering with EDA vendors and influencing technical roadmaps at the strategic level.
A track record of driving large-scale methodology transitions and automation programs that actually ship.
Comfort with data-driven engineering operations - you make decisions with evidence, not instinct alone.
The leadership presence to navigate organizational complexity and lead through change.
Education
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field - plus the kind of hard-won experience that only comes from building real silicon at scale.
This Is the Role You've Been Building Toward.
If you're a Silicon CAD leader who's ready to stop optimizing the present and start building the future of how silicon gets made - we want to talk.
Join Ericsson Silicon. Shape the intelligence behind the world's 5G and 6G networks.
