The Finance Manager leads FP&A for hardware service operations, transitioning manual processes to automated systems and managing inventory, costs, and budgeting.
Description
VAST Data is looking for a hands-on Senior Finance Manager to anchor our upstream supply chain finance function. As we scale to support demanding AI infrastructure deployments, our financial health depends on navigating the complex commercial landscape of component suppliers, silicon vendors, and contract manufacturers. You will serve as the primary financial partner to operations and strategic sourcing, translating component-level supply tactics directly into P&L impact and securing our long-term supply needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Upstream Financial Modeling & Sourcing Strategy: Lead financial evaluations of supplier structures, modeling long-term margin impacts across sourcing scenarios (direct-to-vendor vs. distribution, multi-sourcing, and buffer stock). Forecast NAND/DRAM/Controller pricing trends to inform product margin planning.
- Commercial Negotiation & Contract Architecture: Act as the finance analyst for high-stakes supplier negotiations. Standardize key upstream terms including price protection (PPV), volume rebates, "meet-or-release" clauses, and long-term purchase obligations.
- Component Risk & Liability Management: Own the upstream component financial forecast by reconciling build requirements against supplier allocations. Proactively monitor and mitigate NCNR (non-cancellable, non-returnable) exposures and allocation shortfalls prior to contract commitment.
- Contract Manufacturing & Inventory Operations: Manage financial interfaces with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and hubbing partners. Audit billing accuracy, reconcile purchase orders against production builds, and drive inventory health by addressing excess and obsolescence (E&O).
What You’ll Bring
- Experience: 7+ years in finance, with deep expertise in supply chain or component-level procurement finance.
- Domain Expertise: Working knowledge of the semiconductor ecosystem (NAND, DRAM, ICs), component pricing mechanics, and allocation deal structures.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated track record negotiating complex commercial agreements directly with suppliers, balancing P&L targets with legal and treasury requirements.
- Advanced Modeling: Expert financial modeler capable of building robust scenario and "what-if" analyses for complex supply chains.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Exceptional ability to bridge engineering requirements, procurement goals, and financial constraints for executive stakeholders.
