Build and ship AI-powered full-stack products across backend services, Node.js and TypeScript APIs, and React streaming interfaces. Develop SSE-based responses, conversational UIs, structured AI outputs, persistence, authentication, and resilient asynchronous workflows. Write comprehensive tests, instrument systems, debug production issues, and collaborate with product, design, and platform teams through staged launches. The role requires strong judgment around latency, cost, failure handling, accessibility, and performance.
Samba connects the advertising industry. Today, a trillion dollars of media flows through platforms that don’t talk to each other, and each one measures its own results. We built the independent alternative: consented first-party data and AI that give the world’s biggest advertisers, publishers, and platforms one clear view across all of it.
The next era of advertising will run on AI agents, and those agents will need data they can trust. We’re building that foundation, and the agents that act on it. Join us and help build what the industry runs on.
You join the Agentic Product Engineering team, building a new AI-powered product with a real-time, conversational interface that researches, reasons, and produces real deliverables. The role spans the AI backend, the Node and TypeScript service layer, and the React streaming UI, where latency, cost, and graceful failure decide whether users trust it.
- Build Across the System: Work across the AI backend, service layer, and UI, owning how features stream, model state, and fail, and making good calls on well-scoped work.
- Build the AI Backend: Extend backend services, wiring model interactions and structured outputs, handling streaming, and managing state and persistence while weighing latency, cost, and failure modes.
- Own the Service Layer: Extend the Node backend-for-frontend, building endpoints, streaming responses over server-sent events (SSE), enforcing auth, and keeping the client-to-server contract type-safe.
- Ship the UI: Build a streaming, chat-style React interface, turning structured data into interactive charts, tables, and document previews, and cover front-end work as needed.
- Get Streaming Right: Handle long-running asynchronous work, including partial streaming state, generating transitions, reconnection, large payloads, and graceful behavior when a request fails mid-flight.
- Raise Quality: Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, instrument client and server, and use logs, traces, and error tracking to debug issues spanning UI and services.
- Launch and Collaborate: Ship into live cohorts on a staged progression, fixing what surfaces before the next group, and partner with product, design, and platform engineers through code review.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, plus typically 4+ years of full stack or web application development.
- A full-stack engineer with real range who has owned significant features end to end, weighs trade-offs, explains the why, and disagrees well.
- Strong in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node, with clean type-safe code and REST and SSE fluency, plus solid PostgreSQL, SQL, Git, CI/CD, and cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) fundamentals.
- Hands-on React experience and a solid grasp of the web platform, with judgment on streaming state, reconnection, mid-flight failure, rendering performance, and accessibility, owning correctness of AI-assisted code.
- A strong plus: AI and LLM application experience, including streaming chat UIs, tool-calling, and agentic patterns, and modern SSR React frameworks such as Next.js, Remix, or TanStack Start.
- A plus: type-safe API contracts (tRPC, Hono RPC, GraphQL) across a monorepo, pnpm and Vite tooling, and auth flows (Auth0, OAuth, JWTs).
- A plus: observability tooling (Sentry, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana), scripting in Python, Go, or shell, and adtech, media technology, or data-heavy product experience.
