ABOUT OVERVIEW.AI
Overview.ai is bringing the cutting edge of AI computer vision to manufacturing, solving inspection problems that were previously not solvable with traditional machine vision. We’re a full-stack company: we deploy GPU-powered cameras on production lines, run inference on the edge, and operate a platform that supports large fleets of devices deployed across the world.

We’re growing extremely fast. Our customers love the product because it works: high accuracy, fast deployment, and an operator-friendly experience that makes real factory rollouts possible, not just pilots.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Overview is scaling teams across North America, APAC, and Europe. Our HR foundation needs to keep pace: compliance across every country we operate in, and processes that scale instead of being rebuilt every time we grow. This is a hands-on Lead role. You will diagnose and fix compliance gaps, own HR for our China team, and build the programs that make global HR run cleanly. This position is a high-level, high-impact, hands on role managing a small team of 1-2 direct reports (China and Taiwan) where you will have ownership and the creativity to develop a world class HR function from the ground up.
You will report into our Head of Global Recruiting. This role requires between 15% and 40% travel depending on your location. If you are located near our HQ in San Francisco and work hybrid, you will only be required to travel 15% of the time.

WHY THIS ROLE IS EXCITING

  • Build the global function: You design the compliance and HR infrastructure Overview scales on, not inherit someone else’s.

  • Leverage: Every process you build runs across multiple countries and every new hire.

  • Global scope: North America, APAC, and Europe, with real problems to solve on day one.

  • Ownership: High autonomy, direct access to leadership, and a seat that shapes how the company grows.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

  • Global HR compliance: Own employment compliance across every country we operate in; find gaps and close them.

  • China HR: Own HR for the China team, partnering with your Shanghai HR & Admin Manager direct report on day-to-day execution.

  • Process and program build: Design scalable processes for onboarding, offboarding, contracts, leave, payroll inputs across countries, and performance management/review processes.

  • Global policy: Build a global policy framework and handbook with country-specific addenda.

  • International expansion: Partner on new country entry, including entity vs. EOR decisions and employment setup.

  • Manager support: Be the go-to resource for managers on employee relations, performance, and policy questions.

  • HR data and audit readiness: Keep employee data, contracts, and records accurate, reportable, and audit-ready.

  • Vendors and partners: Manage EOR, payroll, benefits, and employment counsel relationships.

WHO YOU ARE

Required

  • 5+ years in HR, with hands-on ownership of compliance and HR operations.

  • Direct China HR experience, including labor contracts, social insurance and housing fund, and local labor law.

  • Global HR compliance across multiple countries, including employment law, contracts, and statutory benefits.

  • US HR compliance across federal and multi-state requirements.

  • Has built HR processes or programs from scratch at a scaling company.

  • Operates as a hands-on executor, not just an advisor.

  • Works effectively across time zones with teams in Asia and Europe.

Strong Preferences

  • HR experience across APAC beyond China (for example Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Korea).

  • EMEA HR compliance experience.

  • Experience with EOR and PEO models and entity setup decisions.

  • Mandarin proficiency.

  • Background in manufacturing, hardware, or companies with employees deployed on customer sites.

WHY OVERVIEW.AI

  • Extreme growth and real-world impact: We’re not building demos. We’re deploying AI systems on real production lines, at scale.

  • Talent density: You’ll work with world-class engineers and operators across AI, embedded systems, and enterprise deployment.

  • Front-row seat to the AI manufacturing wave: One of the biggest transformations happening in industry right now.

  • Ownership: Your work directly changes the trajectory of the company.

  • Global exposure: You’ll work with the most advanced customers and factories in the world.
