About NewsBreak

Local life runs on local information. What happened down the street? Who can fix this? Where should we go tonight? NewsBreak started in 2015 to answer these questions, and today more than 40 million people a month rely on us to follow what’s going on in their zip code.

Three platforms with one vision: powering local life. Led by founder and CEO Jeff Zheng, NewsBreak is our local life and news platform; Nearby AI connects people with local businesses; and NDot AI helps publishers and creators grow and earn.

The Role

You'll own the full provider funnel for Nearby AI: acquisition → activation → retention → monetization. Our approach is product-led. We pre-build AI-generated profiles, keep onboarding friction low and test outreach channels and messaging in a structured way. Your job is to turn that approach into a growth engine that works across thousands of providers without much manual effort.

This is a 0→1 role that mixes product growth, lifecycle marketing and GTM experimentation. One day you might work with Product and Engineering on onboarding flows. The next, you might run an SMS test yourself, dig into cohort conversion data or talk directly with small-business owners.

What You'll Do

  • Build the funnel. Define and instrument the provider acquisition → activation funnel, with metrics by vertical, channel and cohort.
  • Run experiments fast. Launch rapid tests across email, SMS, calls, messaging and in-product onboarding to find the playbooks that convert best, then scale them.
  • Own lifecycle journeys. Design automated journeys that take providers from prospect → claimed profile → active lead recipient → paying customer.
  • Scale the channels that work. Find and grow the highest-leverage channels, including direct outreach, product-led acquisition and strategic distribution partnerships.
  • Shape the product. Feed channel, messaging and funnel learnings back to Product and Engineering to improve onboarding and provider value.
  • Use AI and automation. Use automation and AI agents to lower acquisition and activation costs while improving retention and monetization.
  • Expand the engine. Take proven motions from the first priority home-service verticals to new verticals and geographies.

What You Bring

Must have

  • Senior experience in growth or product growth, with a track record of scaling acquisition or activation funnels
  • Experience growing SMB, marketplace or local-provider supply
  • Strong funnel analytics skills: comfortable defining metrics, building cohort views and finding bottlenecks in the data
  • Hands-on lifecycle marketing expertise (email, SMS, messaging) and rigorous A/B testing and experiment design
  • Deep understanding of acquisition, activation and retention mechanics
  • A hands-on, bias-for-action style and comfort with ambiguity in an early-stage setting
  • Real empathy for small-business owners and what drives their decisions

Nice to have

  • Experience in home services, local marketplaces, SMB SaaS or lead generation
  • Monetization experience (pricing, packaging, conversion to paid)
  • CRM and marketing automation expertise (e.g., Braze, Klaviyo, HubSpot)
  • Experience building distribution partnerships
  • Experience using AI to drive growth
  • Strong product instincts and commercial judgment

We especially value people who have scaled SMB or provider supply through product and lifecycle levers. This role is not a traditional enterprise BD or field-sales role.

Why Join

  • Build from the ground up: Own the growth engine for a new AI-native local marketplace.
  • Start with real advantages: A large existing local audience, AI-generated business profiles and strong local intent signals.
  • Shape the business: Help define the product and business model alongside Product and Engineering.
  • Room to grow: A clear path toward leading Provider/Marketplace Growth and broader Nearby AI GTM or GM leadership.
