Head of Projects

With this understanding, Terac can intelligently allocate human capability to the work where it creates the most value for both our experts and customers. Today, our initial wedge is providing specialized experts for AI training, evaluation, market research, and other expert-driven research.

This future was not previously possible. Understanding people and work at this depth required more information and judgment than any organization could reasonably process. As a result, the labor market came to rely on crude proxies: résumés, credentials, applications, interviews, and personal networks. At Terac, we're changing this by making it possible to synthesize thousands of signals about a person’s knowledge, performance, preferences, and potential while developing an equally detailed understanding of the work itself.

We place 1,000s of experts per month, pay our experts, on average, over $90/hr. We're a team of 15 based in San Francisco, and we work with many leading research companies.

Today, Terac handles over 50 projects per month across 25+ clients. We're looking for a Head of Projects that can lead the team to hundreds of monthly projects across 100+ clients by the end of 2026. You will partner directly with the CEO to shape and scale the delivery and customer success side of the business. You will work on the highest-priority problems in the company including managing key customer relationships, building the projects team from 5 to 20+, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

You're someone who thrives in ambiguity, has exceptional judgment, and can context-switch between strategic planning, tactical execution, and people operations.

• Lead and manage a team of project leads and recruiters across multiple complex AI data and evaluation projects, ensuring clarity of ownership, priorities, and execution.

• Drive on time, high quality delivery across custom data pipelines and expert labeling workflows, with a sharp focus on throughput, quality, and cost.

• Ensure a top tier experience for Terac Experts, enabling them to produce high quality, scalable data while feeling supported and informed.

• Partner with Product and Engineering to evolve internal tooling, workflows, and systems that unlock step function gains in efficiency and quality.

• Own performance metrics across your portfolio, including quality, throughput, SLAs, utilization, and margin, and using data to drive continuous improvement.

• Operationally intensive roles such as marketplace operations, data operations, strategy and operations.

• Managing high performing teams in fast paced, execution focused environments.

• Experience leading complex, multi stakeholder projects from definition through delivery, ideally with AI, data, or technical workflows.

• Operations or strategy at early stage or high growth startups.

• Investment banking, private equity or management consulting.

• AI data operations, ML ops, or technical services.

• Compensation: Competitive salary, meaningful equity vested over four years, $10K relocation bonus (for moving to the Bay Area), and an additional $5k housing bonus (if you move within 0.5 miles of our office), Health, Dental, Vision insurance, 401(k) with company match
