This role partners closely with data engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure platform stability, performance, scalability, and adherence to enterprise standards.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
- Own end-to-end administration of Ab Initio platforms, including GDE, Co>Operating System (Co>Op), Conduct>It, EME, MetadataHub, and Ab Initio Data Quality components.
- Lead production and non-production environment installations, upgrades, patching, and configuration, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to change management processes.
- Manage user access, security, object migration, and environment configurations across development, QA, and production.
- Monitor and support batch and real-time Ab Initio data processing workloads, diagnosing and resolving performance, capacity, and availability issues.
- Administer and support Ab Initio DQ graphs, rules, plans, and metadata, ensuring high-quality, compliant data processing.
- Review and analyze complex production issues, including job failures, resource contention, EME inconsistencies, and system-level constraints.
- Develop and enforce enterprise standards, best practices, and operational procedures for Ab Initio platform administration.
- Partner with infrastructure, database, storage, and cloud teams to design and maintain highly available and scalable Ab Initio environments.
- Support disaster recovery planning, backup and restore procedures, and periodic resilience testing.
- Collaborate with data engineers and architects to review solution designs for performance, scalability, and operational readiness.
- Automate routine administrative tasks and deployments using shell scripting and CI/CD pipelines.
- Serve as a technical mentor and point of escalation for junior administrators or platform support teams.
- Lead or contribute to platform modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption and hybrid architectures.
- Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
- Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years of Information Technology experience supporting enterprise data platforms, production operations, or large-scale data engineering systems.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Ab Initio Administrator supporting production environments.
- 5+ years' experience with Ab Initio Co>Op, GDE, EME, Conduct>It, and Ab Initio Data Quality.
- 5+ years of experience in Linux/UNIX system administration and shell scripting.
- Experience managing production batch scheduling and workload automation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across application, OS, and data layers.
- Experience working in regulated, high-availability enterprise environments.
- 5 years of overall Ab Initio platform experience, including administration and operational support.
- Deep expertise in Ab Initio Data Quality (DQ) configuration, administration, and runtime support.
- Experience supporting large-scale, distributed data processing environments.
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory, and Sonar.
- Experience with automation, monitoring, and alerting for data platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud and hybrid deployments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native principles.
- Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps practices.
- Ability to influence platform standards and drive continuous improvement across teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.
