Manager, Finance

Remote, US

We have an opportunity for a Manager, Finance to join our R&D Finance team, reporting to the Director, R&D Finance. In this pivotal role, you will own the COGS and OpEx reporting stream for R&D Finance, including SaaS margin analytics and Product P&Ls that directly feed our Board and executive reporting. You will help lead the stand-up of Anaplan as the primary planning and reporting platform for Finance, manage a small team of analysts, and apply AI-enabled tools to improve the speed, quality, and scalability of financial insights.

We’re looking for a Finance professional who has used Anaplan as their primary planning tool, owning forecasts and reporting from inside the model rather than implementing it for others. You’ll run the planning and reporting cycles in a live Anaplan environment and partner with Finance Systems to evolve the platform as the business scales. Collaborating closely with R&D leadership (CPO, CTO, CISO), Corporate FP&A, Accounting, and Sales Finance, you will deepen Infoblox’s FP&A team’s capabilities supporting our business partners, optimize cloud and infrastructure costs, and modernize how Finance works through automation, Anaplan model building, and responsible AI adoption.

We welcome applications from candidates across the United States. The role is fully remote for those located outside the Seattle and Santa Clara metro areas. Candidates based in the Seattle or Santa Clara areas will follow a hybrid schedule and work from the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hiring decisions are based on qualifications, skills, and overall fit, not location.

Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do

  • Own the monthly and quarterly planning cycle in Anaplan: load actuals from source systems, run variance analysis, refresh forecasts, and maintain the model logic and reporting views that leadership relies on
  • Own the end-to-end Anaplan BvA and quarterly forecast process for Product, Engineering, and Security/InfoSec, including model design, driver logic, and reporting views
  • Build, enhance, and administer R&D Anaplan models (OpEx, COGS, headcount, and product economics), partnering with Finance Systems to ensure data quality and governance
  • Lead SaaS margin analytics, including margin views, SaaS COGS allocation methodologies, and GM% management across products and platforms
  • Maintain and refine Product P&Ls (ARR, revenue, COGS, OpEx, and EBITDA views), aligning to corporate LRP and Board reporting requirements
  • Manage monthly and quarterly close for R&D cost centers and SaaS COGS: post actuals, prepare accruals and journal entries, and assist with our monthly close process in partnership with Accounting
  • Own software capitalization (ASC 350-40) tracking, classification, and amortization schedules, working closely with Technical Accounting
  • Design and oversee cloud infrastructure cost allocation between COGS and R&D OpEx, ensuring transparent, repeatable methodologies
  • Lead PO approval routing and open PO tracking for R&D cost centers, partnering with Procurement and budget owners
  • Support internal and external audit requests for R&D expense, capex, software capitalization, and allocations
  • Lead and develop a team of two Finance analysts while partnering closely with peer Finance Managers across R&D Finance to align methodologies, coordinate close and forecast cycles, and ensure consistent reporting across the team
  • Apply AI tools (Claude, Aleph, etc.) to build dynamic reporting and reconciliation workflows that surface pattern-based insights for R&D leaders

Be Prepared — What You Bring

  • 8+ years of progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience in a SaaS, software, or technology environment. Preferably with Networking and/or Security experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on Anaplan experience in a Finance role, where Anaplan was your day-to-day tool for forecasting, budget-vs-actuals analysis, and management reporting
  • Experience building and maintaining models to support your own planning work is strongly preferred; Anaplan Certified Model Builder or Master Anaplanner certification is a plus
  • Deep understanding of how data moves through the platform and can independently load actuals, analyze variances, and publish forecast updates
  • Knowledge of both License and Maintenance renewal dynamics (including hardware refresh cycles) and SaaS unit economics, with the ability to translate recurring revenue models and SaaS margin analytics into Product P&Ls and Board reporting
  • Demonstrated experience with month- and quarter-end close for OpEx and COGS, including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Working knowledge of software capitalization under ASC 350-40 for internal-use software development costs
  • Experience allocating cloud infrastructure costs across COGS and R&D OpEx
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial models, large data sets, and multiple sources of information
  • Comfort using AI tools (Claude, productivity assistants) responsibly to improve finance workflows and insight generation
  • People leadership experience, including direct management experience, with a focus on feedback, development, and upskilling
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field. We welcome candidates from diverse academic backgrounds, who bring strong analytical and quantitative thinking to finance

Be Successful — Your Path

First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors, and map the systems and stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals.

Six Months:

  • Build a deep understanding of company strategy, operating model, and current program landscape
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders across functions
  • Identify early opportunities to bring structure, clarity, and alignment to active programs
  • Own the monthly R&D BvA and forecast refresh in Anaplan for R&D Finance with minimal oversight
  • Improve our current SaaS margin reporting package (by region, product, and cloud platform) into a package trusted by R&D and Finance leadership
  • Update Product P&Ls within Anaplan across major product lines and implement at least one AI-assisted workflow to reduce cycle time for recurring reporting
  • Establish operating rhythms with your two direct reports (1:1s, workload planning, review cadences) and launch initial development plans

One Year:

  • Be recognized as the go-to leader for R&D COGS, SaaS margins, and OpEx, with a robust Anaplan ecosystem that reduces manual Excel work
  • Deliver accurate SaaS margin and Product P&L insights that inform the LRP, product investment decisions, and Board discussions
  • Implement a roadmap of automation and AI-enabled improvements with Finance Systems, IT Data, and COO transformation programs
  • Develop your team into a high-performing group with clear succession and growth aligned to Infoblox’s finance career ladders
