About the company
Our client is a fast-growing software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Apply hands-on CAD and mechanical design expertise to create practical engineering exercises and structured evaluation criteria. Work closely with senior mechanical engineers across several disciplines to learn how they work and turn that knowledge into scalable, repeatable materials.
What you'll do
- Map the range of mechanical engineering roles, the skills each requires and how those skills can be assessed remotely.
- Hold discovery conversations with senior mechanical engineers in thermal, propulsion and structural areas to understand their work and expectations.
- Design CAD-based tasks across several commonly used CAD platforms that mirror real engineering workflows and reveal sound engineering judgment.
- Write guides and learning resources that help people with different CAD backgrounds carry their skills across platforms.
- Convert domain expertise into consistent scoring rubrics and structured evaluation criteria that can be reused at scale.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of experience as a design or CAD engineer with broad mechanical exposure across structural, thermal and manufacturing work.
- Background at an early-stage or growth-stage aerospace and defense company; large defense contractor experience is also considered.
- A career path spanning many areas of mechanical engineering rather than one narrow specialty.
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional-level proficiency in SolidWorks or a comparable CAD tool, with experience across more than one CAD platform.
- Familiarity with FEA workflows and simulation tools.
- Ability to interview technical leads and translate their workflows into structured criteria.
