About this role

Your team

BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) Model Portfolio team builds and manages investment solutions for a growing and increasingly customized client business. The team combines portfolio construction, asset allocation, investment implementation, analytics, and technology to deliver model portfolios across a broad range of investment objectives. The platform spans multi-asset portfolios using exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds, as well as equity-focused implementations. As the business continues to evolve, the team is transforming how portfolio management is performed by developing advanced monitoring and analytics, automating repeatable processes, and applying artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to support customization, scalability, and investment oversight. Team members work closely with investors, quantitative specialists, and engineers to improve both portfolio outcomes and the technology used to manage them.

Your role and impact

This role sits at the intersection of investing, analytical problem-solving, and technology. As a Vice President on the Model Portfolio team, you will contribute to portfolio management, investment analytics, and platform innovation that support a rapidly expanding client business. You will help improve investment decisions, strengthen implementation quality, enhance transparency, and build scalable processes that support customized portfolio solutions. Success in the role requires the ability to translate investment challenges into practical solutions while partnering across investment, analytics, engineering, risk, data, and operations teams.

Your responsibilities

In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Manage and support model portfolio investment processes, including portfolio construction, positioning, monitoring, rebalancing, and implementation of asset allocation and investment strategy changes.
  • Oversee portfolio outcomes and controls by evaluating investment guidelines, risk exposures, implementation effects, and operational issues, while investigating exceptions and strengthening preventative processes.
  • Develop and interpret investment analytics, including benchmark-relative performance, attribution, factor risk, portfolio exposures, and implementation analysis to support investment decisions and client reporting.
  • Build scalable analytical tools, reporting solutions, visualizations, and monitoring capabilities that improve transparency into portfolio performance, holdings, exposures, and operational status.
  • Design, implement, and enhance Python-based software, data workflows, and automation supporting customization, portfolio management, rebalance execution, and integration with investment platforms and data sources.
  • Apply quantitative methods, AI, and large language models (LLMs), where appropriate, to support research, decision-making, and workflow efficiency while maintaining appropriate validation and controls.
  • Partner with portfolio managers, investment strategists, engineers, risk managers, analytics teams, data professionals, and operations stakeholders to deliver practical solutions from concept through implementation and adoption.

Your experience
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: portfolio management and investment implementation, performance and risk analytics, or software engineering and data-driven workflow development.
  • Strong understanding of investment concepts including asset allocation, portfolio construction, financial markets, risk management, and portfolio exposures, or the ability to develop this expertise within an investment management environment.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively with financial, portfolio, and other complex datasets.
  • Experience using Python and related analytical tools to solve complex business problems; familiarity with structured data, SQL, and scalable workflow development is advantageous.
  • Ability to identify operational and investment risks, assess output quality, and design or follow effective controls within investment processes and automated workflows.
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset with the ability to take ambiguous problems through execution, collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and communicate insights clearly.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, automation, and AI, together with a willingness to develop expertise across investment management, analytics, and technology domains.
