About Solen Software Group

Solen Software Group is an investment and operating company that acquires and operates proven software businesses with significant growth potential across a variety of vertical markets, enabling each to become a market leader in its niche. Solen's portfolio spans Human Resource Technology, Fleet Telematics, Asset Management, E-Health, Document Management, and other innovative software solutions. Solen is backed by a group of advisors and investors who have built software businesses of material scale (10–100M in ARR) and have advised many more. We are at the beginning of a decades-long journey, and every decision we make reflects that long time horizon.

About the Role

We are looking for a Payroll Transformation Specialist to support payroll operations, integrations, and process improvement across Solen and its portfolio companies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving payroll challenges, working with data, and building reliable processes. You do not need to be an expert in every country. What matters is that you are curious, organized, and happy to figure out the answers.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations and Integration

  • Support payroll integration for newly acquired companies.
  • Coordinate payroll implementations, provider transitions, testing, and go-live activities.
  • Collect, validate, and reconcile employee and payroll data.
  • Review payroll inputs and outputs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, taxes, and one-time payments.
  • Help resolve payroll issues accurately and on time.

Compliance and Controls

  • Maintain payroll calendars, checklists, approvals, reconciliations, and audit-ready records.
  • Support payroll tax registrations, notices, statutory reporting, and year-end activities.
  • Reconcile payroll deductions with benefits and HR system records.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, portfolio leaders, EORs, and local payroll providers.
  • Identify and escalate compliance or employee-impacting risks promptly.

Systems and Process Improvement

  • Document payroll processes and develop standard procedures, templates, and controls.
  • Support payroll system configuration, testing, data cleanup, and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate manual work.
  • Track implementation milestones, deadlines, risks, and outstanding decisions.
  • Help standardize payroll practices while accounting for local requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in payroll administration, implementation, HR operations, accounting support, or a related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, payroll conversions, or a global workforce.
  • Excellent organization, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies and clearly communicate findings.
  • Comfort working across multiple companies, countries, currencies, and time zones.
  • Sound judgment when handling confidential payroll information.
  • A practical, responsive, and service-minded approach.

Helpful, but Not Required

  • Exposure to payroll in Brazil, Portugal, Canada, the UK, or the United States.
  • Experience with Deel, Rippling, Multiplier, Paylocity, Paychex, TriNet, or similar platforms.
  • Payroll certification or relevant coursework.

Solen-isms (How We Operate)

  • Ownership Mindset: We own the mission. We don't wait to be told. We lead, fix, and build as if it were ours. When problems arise, we run toward them, not away.
  • Benchmark to Best: We seek out excellence. We measure ourselves against the best and adapt quickly, always looking for the edge that moves us forward.
  • Openly Self-Critical: Leaders go first: they surface their misses early, ask for direct feedback, and turn “game film” into better decisions and better systems.
  • Disagree & Commit: Leaders disagree openly and constructively, regardless of title or tenure, because truth is how we avoid bureaucracy and benchmark to best.
  • Figureitoutiveness: Embracing challenges, fostering growth, and taking initiative, leaders thrive on hard work and high failure tolerance.
  • Mutual Elevation: Committed to growth, elevating teams, developing future leaders, and removing barriers to mastery and joy.
  • Learn-it-alls: Learn-it-alls, not know-it-alls, embracing failure as part of growth and progress.
  • Pioneering: Pioneering driven by opportunity, using first principles thinking and unbound by tradition or rules.
  • Will to Win: Leaders relentlessly pursue potential, reject mediocrity, and get what they tolerate.
  • Dialectical: We learn through conversation. We ask, listen, question, and evolve — valuing disagreement as a tool for alignment and deeper understanding.
  • Frugality: Achieving more with less, focusing on quality, long-term value, and company-wide responsibility.
  • Candor: We communicate with integrity, transparency, and respect in all conversations.
  • Kaizen: Kaizen is continuous improvement as a way of life. Leaders make hundreds of small upgrades that compound, turning lessons into standards and standards into durable systems.
