Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Sr. Principal Configuration Management Engineer to join our F35 software configuration management team. This position is located onsite in Redondo Beach, CA. The person selected for this important position will take a lead role in the update and management of the F35 software development procedures documentation, be responsible for preparing configuration management (CM) artifacts for F35 software deliveries, and leading and mentoring the other CM team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the management, update, and maintenance of all related F35 software development procedures and configuration management documentation to help ensure that all customer requirements are fulfilled.
- Review contracts to determine documentation requirements for all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Prepare CM delivery artifacts and aid the CM and development teams to ensure timely F35 software deliveries.
- Author and maintain workflows in Jira and help determine how these workflows can be implemented in GitLab.
- Prepare for occasional CM audits.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Configuration Management Engineer level 3 or a Sr. Principal Configuration Management Engineer level 4
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Configuration Management Engineer (level 3):
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 years of related engineering experience.
- Prior professional experience managing, updating, and maintaining software configuration management documentation.
- Prior professional experience authoring and maintaining workflows for software CM procedures in Jira.
- Working knowledge of Git, including experience with a Git remote such as Bitbucket or GitLab.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Configuration Management Engineer (level 4):
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Prior professional experience managing, updating, and maintaining software configuration management documentation
- Prior professional experience authoring and maintaining workflows for software related issues in Jira Working knowledge of Git, including experience with a Git remote such as Bitbucket or GitLab.

Preferred Qualifications for both a Principal Configuration Management Engineer and Sr. Principal Configuration Management Engineer:
- Familiarity with NIMBUS.
- Differentiating characteristics include demonstrated leadership, teamwork capabilities, strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
