We are seeking a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of state level sales, assessment, curriculum, and education policy to join the Curriculum Associates (CA) Government Relations team to drive policy wins with state leaders that grow student learning and expand CA’s business. This leader will design and execute strategy and policy goals for key leaders and organizations across a subset of states.

The position reports to the Vice President of Policy and Engagement and works cross-functionally with other Regional Vice Presidents to achieve state-specific and GR-wide goals. This leader will focus on business development at the state level and drive towards the goal of creating opportunities and cultivating an environment that is favorable for students and for CA's offerings at the state, local, and school levels.The leader will possess a keen understanding of the implications legislation, regulation, and policy may have on districts and schools, and will show command of the education funding, instruction, and assessment domains to maneuver a fast-changing K–12 context.

 

The impact you'll have:

  • Design, manage, and implement state level strategy for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Information (RFIs), state lists, and other state-level solicitations to successfully influence RFP/RFI language and effectively position Curriculum Associates’ products and solutions in the state and district marketplace.
  • Use a strong understanding curriculum, interim and formative assessment, and the broader state educational policy ecosystem and marketplace (e.g., summative assessment, multi-tiered systems of support, etc.) to drive state-level strategies across a subset of states, reflecting deep knowledge of current educational and policy trends.
  • Manage state-level lobbyists in execution of state strategies and policy and advocacy goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships in assigned states with key stakeholders such as state department of education leadership, their assessment and curriculum teams, state legislators, governors and staff, state boards of education, key state-level education associations, and other state level influencers and groups.
  • Participate in national organizations, conferences, and conversations to further the mission, goals, and policy agenda of Curriculum Associates.
  • Research and identify opportunities and threats at the state level for CA’s inclusion on lists for approved assessment, curriculum, and other instructional materials
  • Develop and execute presentations, remarks, and other public-facing materials to further Curriculum Associates’ position in the state marketplace and national policy arena.
  • Closely collaborate across CA to serve a wide variety of internal customers and constituents in helping to understand the state and federal education policy landscape and identify and respond to implications in an ever-changing policy and funding environment.
  • Work in complex political situations in an accessible manner.
  • Demonstrate skills in strategic and consultative sales practices, in collaboration with sales teams.
  • Translate complex customer business requirements and legislative/policy regulations for internal product development and product management teams.

Travel: Overnight travel up to 50% may be required.

 

Benefits and Pay Range:

Pay Range – This role’s range is $110,500-$196,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
