To align with our AI-integrated operating model, our interview process will assess AI fluency, curiosity, and measurable/impactful workflow integration.

Overview

As an SEM Manager LegalZoom, you will own a product vertical or campaign group end to end across Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and emerging search surfaces—strategy, structure, bidding governance, testing roadmap, and performance against CPA and ROAS goals. The seat manages a multi-million-dollar annual media budget. You decide bid and budget shifts inside your group's guardrails, recommend reallocation and guardrail changes with evidence, and escalate what crosses into other groups.

You are the person on the team who designs the valid experiment, owns a forecast and its error, and understands how LTV and revenue for your vertical map to the bidding signals you control. You ship AI-enabled workflows and agents that other people on the team depend on, and you own their QA and documentation. This is an individual-contributor role; the title reflects independent ownership of a channel segment and its budget.

You will

  • Own a product vertical (for example, Formations, Compliance, Consumer, or IP) or campaign group end to end: account structure, value-based bidding governance, negatives and guardrails, testing roadmap, and quarterly plan.

  • Decide bid and budget shifts within your group's guardrails; recommend reallocation across campaigns and changes to guardrails; escalate cross-group changes with a clear proposal.

  • Monitor cannibalization and interaction effects between Search, Performance Max, and AI-driven campaign types within your scope; propose structural fixes.

  • Own team routines for your vertical—your section of the weekly business review, account hygiene, and pacing.

  • Design experiments with a stated hypothesis, power, and holdout; read results beyond platform metrics and translate them into decisions.

  • Build and own a pacing and forecast model for your vertical; know its error and improve it.

  • Understand LTV and revenue for your vertical and how value-based bidding signals map to them; recommend signal and target changes when the economics shift.

  • Analyze from click through revenue to diagnose root causes and recommend reallocation with quantified impact.

  • Ship reusable AI-enabled workflows or agents—for research, optimization, QA, or reporting—that others on the team rely on; own their QA, documentation, and maintenance.

  • Evaluate agent outputs for data quality, privacy, and compliance before they inform spend decisions; retire or repair what stops earning its place.

  • Contribute to the team's shared skill and workflow library.

  • Run multi-workstream projects—restructures, launches, landing-page programs—with milestones and stakeholder accountability.

  • Own intake with Product, Product Marketing, and Creative for your vertical; pre-align on audience, viability, and sizing before bringing tests to partners.

  • Onboard new analysts to your vertical and coach them on the team's workflows.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Occasional travel may be required as needed

You have

  • Typically 6+ years of hands-on paid search experience, including end-to-end ownership of a campaign group or vertical, or equivalent depth of relevant experience.

  • Experience managing $1M+ in annual paid search spend with end-to-end accountability, in-house or at an agency.

  • Recent hands-on-keys experience with Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising, including Performance Max and value-based or smart bidding at scale.

  • Demonstrated experiment design and readout skills—hypothesis, power, holdout, and interpretation beyond platform metrics.

  • Experience building and owning a pacing or forecast model.

  • Working knowledge of LTV-based optimization and how bidding signals connect to unit economics.

  • Demonstrated ability to build AI-enabled workflows or agents that others depend on, with rigorous QA and documentation—from work or self-directed projects.

  • Strong SQL (or equivalent) and Excel; clear written and verbal communication with functional leaders.

  • Remote employees should confirm that the internet service available has adequate bandwidth to support all work processes.

Nice to have

  • Experience with cross-channel cannibalization or incrementally analysis.

  • Experience with AI-native search surfaces (AI Overviews, conversational search, AEO/GEO).

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or marketing field, or equivalent experience.

The salary range for this role is ($84,400-$150,000).
Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs.
