The Senior Accountant,  Accounts Payable, is responsible for the daily Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments. This role supports financial operations through the accuracy of AP activities, vendor management, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives.

The position reports to the AP Sr. Accounting Manager.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of high-volume invoices and payments.
  • Review and approve invoices, payment requests, and vendor account reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate verification of purchase orders, pricing, freight charges, and supporting documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, vendor disputes, and payment issues.
  • Monitor vendor accounts and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Oversee account reconciliations and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Develop and maintain AP procedures, internal controls, and best practices.
  • Analyze workflows and recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Prepare AP reports, aging schedules, and payment status updates for management.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Receiving, Finance, and other departments to ensure smooth transaction processing.
  • Train and support AP staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Assist with internal and external audits as needed.

 

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • 5+ years of progressive Accounts Payable or accounting experience,
    • Strong knowledge of AP processes, accounting principles, and internal controls.
    • Experience handling high-volume invoice processing and inventory-related transactions.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience with ERP systems and AP automation tools preferred.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
