Own IT and network infrastructure across several geographically distributed sites, covering site setup, everyday systems administration and security. This is a hands-on senior position with a route toward building and managing an IT team as the business grows.

What you'll do

- Set up additional sites from the ground up, from procuring equipment to getting every device online and the network running.

- Operate and extend a custom-built network environment, using infrastructure automation to provision it and keep large data transfers flowing between sites.

- Administer core IT services, including the productivity suite, employee onboarding and offboarding, laptop and device management, and role-based access controls.

- Lead security and compliance efforts such as SOC 2 readiness, endpoint protection, penetration testing and phishing simulations.

- Partner closely with leadership and, over time, hire and manage an IT team.

- 7+ years of IT experience, including hands-on work setting up physical workplaces or technical sites for a company that makes tangible products.

- A bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field, or equivalent experience.

- Experience managing the lifecycle of endpoints and devices.

- Scripting ability in Python or Bash.

- A career mostly spent at growing startups, with steady tenure in each role.

- Clear communication and comfort offering constructive pushback.

- Ability to work on-site in South San Francisco three days a week.

Bonus points

- Infrastructure as code and CI/CD experience.

- Ownership of SOC 2 or similar compliance work.

- Interest in growing into a people management role.

- Home lab or hobby projects.
