About the role

We are looking for a highly technical, hands-on Senior IT Systems Engineer to help build and operate the systems that enable Hex employees to do their best work.

IT at Hex spans far more than traditional helpdesk. This role will own critical parts of our employee technology environment, including identity and access, endpoint management, SaaS administration, onboarding and offboarding, office technology, asset management, and the automation that connects these systems together.

As Hex grows, our goal is to build an IT organization that is exceptionally reliable, secure, and easy to interact with. Employees should be able to get the tools and access they need quickly, common workflows should happen automatically, and our systems should be designed so that we can scale without simply adding more manual work.

You will be a senior technical owner within IT and work closely with Security, People, Finance, Engineering, and external partners. You’ll help set the technical direction for IT with the CISO while remaining deeply hands-on: designing systems, implementing automation, debugging difficult problems, improving existing infrastructure, and stepping in when something important needs to get fixed.

We are especially interested in people who are excited about how AI and automation are changing IT operations and want to rethink how a modern technology company should run its internal systems.

What you will do:
  • Own and improve core IT infrastructure across identity, endpoints, SaaS applications, employee lifecycle management, office technology, and asset management

  • Build automation and AI agents and integrations that eliminate repetitive manual work and allow IT operations to scale with the company

  • Manage and improve our endpoint fleet, including device provisioning, configuration, compliance, patching, and inventory

  • Establish strong operational standards for IT systems, including monitoring, documentation, change management, and incident response

  • Identify recurring sources of employee friction and systematically eliminate them rather than treating individual tickets as isolated problems

  • Help operate and improve technology across our offices, including networking, conference rooms, AV, and other employee-facing systems

  • Work effectively with managed service providers, consultants, and technology vendors while maintaining strong internal ownership of our systems

  • Partner with the CISO and the security team to design and mature Hex’s IT program, operating model, and team; establish the systems, processes, metrics, and automation needed to scale, with the expectation of progressively taking ownership and ultimately leading the IT function day-to-day.

About You:
  • 5+ years of experience in IT engineering, corporate infrastructure, systems engineering, or a similar role in a modern technology environment

  • Deep hands-on experience administering identity, endpoint, SaaS, and employee productivity systems

  • Experience managing macOS fleets using modern endpoint management tooling

  • Strong scripting and automation skills, with the ability to integrate systems using APIs and build durable workflows rather than relying on manual processes

  • Comfortable working across a broad technical surface area, from identity and SaaS integrations to laptops, networks, conference rooms, and office infrastructure

  • Strong understanding of security fundamentals and the ability to work effectively with a Security organization

  • Proven ability to take ambiguous or poorly defined operational problems, identify the underlying systems issue, and drive it through to a durable solution

  • High operational standards and a strong instinct for reliability, simplicity, and reducing employee friction

  • Excited about using AI and emerging technologies to rethink traditional IT workflows

  • Able to communicate clearly with both highly technical teams and employees who simply need technology to work

  • Willing to roll up your sleeves. You may spend one part of the day designing an identity automation workflow and another diagnosing why a conference room stopped working

You might be an especially strong fit if you have helped scale IT infrastructure at a growing technology company and have seen firsthand which processes break as an organization moves from hundreds toward thousands of employees.
