We're seeking a Senior Manager or Director, Public Sector Consulting & Internal Audit to help lead and expand our growing Public Sector Advisory Practice. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a strategic advisor who is passionate about improving governance, strengthening internal controls, managing risk, and driving operational excellence across government organizations.


In this role, you'll partner directly with executive leadership, audit committees, and governing boards while leading complex consulting engagements for state and local government agencies, special districts, and public sector organizations. Experience serving transportation, transit, rail, airport, or port authorities is highly desirable.

What You'll Do
  • Lead internal audit, risk assessment, compliance, governance, and operational improvement engagements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executives, governing boards, and audit committees.
  • Oversee engagement strategy, staffing, budgets, quality control, and client satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, accountability, and performance.
  • Mentor and develop high-performing consulting teams.
  • Drive business development efforts, including client relationship management, proposals, presentations, and strategic pursuits.
  • Expand MGO's presence within the public sector through industry involvement, networking, and thought leadership.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in consulting, internal audit, risk advisory, or public accounting.
  • Significant experience serving state and local government or public sector clients.
  • Expertise in internal audit, enterprise risk management, governance, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead complex engagements.
  • Demonstrated success developing business, growing client relationships, and generating revenue.
  • CPA required; CIA, CFE, CGFM, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Compensation: $160,000 - $230,000 base salary plus bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.
