This is slated as a six month contract position.
Reporting to the UCANZ Regional Marketing Director, this role will be responsible for planning and executing all events in the region, overseeing the full end-to-end process. This role will own the Events strategy for the region, based on the broader regional strategy and aligned with Crunchyroll's lines of business and key partner goals within each event.
The Senior Events Marketing Manager will lead concept ideation, production coordination, agency selection, licensor approvals, convention negotiations, and panel production and execution. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams—including Brand Marketing, PR, Creative Services, Partnerships, among others—to ensure seamless delivery of events that drive impact and engagement.
With a strategic mindset and hands-on leadership, the Senior Events Marketing Manager will take full ownership of regional events, ensuring they meet expectations, remain on budget, and deliver positive experiences for both our licensors and our audiences.
This role will be based in Los Angeles.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of all Crunchyroll events in US, Canada and Australia.
- Drive concept ideation and ensure integration of creative, strategic, and audience-first approaches.
- Recommend and manage agencies and internal/external production partners, ensuring excellence and budget discipline.
- Works closely with UCANZ resources to align events to the regions' SVOD strategy and audiences.
- Own event budgets, from planning and approvals to tracking, reporting, and accountability for spend efficiency.
- Coordinate licensor approval needs and maintain strong relationships with partners throughout the process.
- Negotiate with convention organizers to secure opportunities and maximize brand impact.
- Oversee panel production, from rundowns and scripts to rehearsals and live execution, in partnership with Global Events.
- Work closely with SPE Theatrical and the Theatrical Marketing Manager to plan and deliver premieres across the region as needed, ensuring seamless integration of red carpets, fan activations, and talent participation.
- Coordinate with regional marketing and O&O teams on campaign planning, including PR, media amplification, social coverage, and press engagement to maximize visibility and fan experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Brand Marketing, PR, Creative Services, Growth, Partnerships, and O&O Comms) to align strategy, messaging, and execution.
- Ensure seamless logistics and experiences for licensors, executives, Japanese and local talent, and partners, coordinating with internal production partners and teams (Events Production, Global Events, Brand Management, EA Team) to meet their hospitality needs.
- Track, report, and optimize event performance to deliver best-in-class experiences for fans, licensors, and stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience leading large-scale events, conventions, or brand activations in entertainment, media, or pop culture in the US
- Proven expertise in budget ownership, licensor/studios management, and cross-functional leadership.
- Strong background in event marketing and production, logistics, and agency/vendor management.
- Demonstrated expertise in O&O marketing, integrating campaign strategy into event and marketing activations based on audiences and business goals
- Align and coordinate multiple stakeholders (local/regional marketing, PR, social, creative, partnerships, global events) and external agencies toward a common vision.
- Fluent in English, Spanish a plus
- Required Education: BS, ideally with a background in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, PR, Film/TV, or related field
- Travel may be required
Soft Skills
- Extensive knowledge of the modern anime landscape, the Crunchyroll ecosystem, and broader gaming, geekdom, pop culture, as well as an understanding of multicultural communities, will be a major plus
- Forge positive relationships
- An understanding of how to present yourself in business situations
- Proficiency with Creative Asset Management systems and Google Workspace
