Summary  

This is a hybrid position requiring both in-office work at our NYC office and remote work. As the Senior Manager of Strategic Finance, you will be a core pillar of GeneDx’s finance organization. You will own the end-to-end financial planning cycle — from long-range strategic plan through annual operating plan — and serve as a bridge between strategy and execution. You will lead the build-out of GeneDx’s financial operating mechanism, partnering cross-functionally to deliver a comprehensive, high-integrity view of financial performance to the board, leadership, and other stakeholders. This role directly supports GeneDx’s 2026 priorities: building a world-class operating mechanism, accelerating product and partnership growth, managing cash with precision, and establishing the unit economics that will define our next phase of scale. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Lead core financial planning processes: Drive the financial planning cycle, including the Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and core monthly / quarterly forecasting & review processes, including the new monthly business review cadence launching in August 2026, in coordination with cross-functional stakeholders (i.e., finance and non-finance functions). 
  • Own the company’s financial model: Build and maintain the rolling 5-year financial model. You will harmonize inputs from across the business to quantify our long-term trajectory and pressure-test strategic scenarios. 
  • Produce leadership-ready reporting and narratives for both regular planning and key decisions business decisions, synthesizing data into clear, actionable insights. 
  • Finance business partnership: Drive finance business partnership, including direct business partnership for our Business organization, providing financial decision-making support across the organization. 
  • Investment prioritization: Establish the financial framework for capital & investment allocation, ensuring that all major investments (CapEx, OpEx, Headcount) are measured against consistent financial criteria. 
  • Deliver insight at scale: Effectively use tools like AI to improve and automate FP&A processes, systems and reporting to deliver more insight per unit of time invested  

Education, Experience, and Skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, STEM or a related field 
  • 5-10 years of progressive finance experience, with a foundation in Strategic Finance / FP&A roles at high growth companies or financial services (e.g., investment banking or public accounting) 
  • Expert Financial Modeling: You must be able to build and manage complex, interconnected 3-statement models, effectively balance structure and modeling flexibility. 
  • Business acumen and financial fluency: Deep understanding of operational and financial value drivers and a working knowledge of GAAP / accounting principles. 
  • Stakeholder management: Comfortable serving as the primary financial voice to the leadership team and cross-functional partners. 

 

Work Environment 

This is a hybrid position requiring both in-office and remote work. The employee will work from our office location in New York City, NY and remotely from a home office or other suitable location with reliable high-speed internet access. In-office work is performed in a professional office setting with standard lighting, temperature control, and low to moderate noise levels. Remote work is performed in a climate-controlled environment. Standard office equipment including computer, phone, and video conferencing tools are used in both settings. Your standard work schedule and hours will be established in collaboration with your leader and may be adjusted to align with evolving business needs.
