About the company

Our client is a biotechnology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Design, build and protect the technical foundation for a hands-on operating environment that blends on-premises hardware with a cloud presence. The work combines automation, network architecture and security practice. You will be based on-site part of the week alongside real physical equipment.

What you'll do

- Architect and grow local networking, compute and storage capacity that handles very large data volumes.

- Build a custom network from scratch using automation and pipeline tooling, then pass routine operation to a support team through documented procedures.

- Lead security work such as firewall configuration, safeguarding connected machinery, adversarial testing of web systems and responding to incidents.

- Set up and operate secure cloud environments and link them to on-premises sites.

- Support the rollout of additional facilities as the business grows.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- Around 7 or more years in infrastructure, systems or security roles, including some on-premises exposure.

- A career spent mostly in fast-moving startups, ideally owning a function as its first hire.

- Solid AWS expertise and automation skills with Terraform, Ansible and CI/CD, plus scripting in Python and Bash.

- Strong grasp of network fundamentals and hands-on experience designing networks rather than only configuring vendor consoles.

- Practical security background covering testing, risk assessment and handling security events.

- Willingness to work in the office three set days each week.

Bonus points

- Prior support of on-site infrastructure tied to physical, equipment-heavy operations.

- Familiarity with open-source or MikroTik-style routing and firewall platforms.

Benefits

Compensation and benefits

- Base salary: USD 205,000 to 250,000 per year

- Equity

- Health, dental and vision coverage

- Retirement plan with matching

- Paid time off and paid holidays

- Life insurance and mental health coverage

Location and work model

- South San Francisco, California, United States

- Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office

- Full-time
