At Compass, our mission is to help everyone find their place in the world. Founded in 2012, we’re revolutionizing the real estate industry with our end-to-end platform that empowers residential real estate agents to deliver exceptional service to seller and buyer clients.

We are seeking a technical Senior Product Manager to lead the vision and execution of our Notifications Platform. In this role, you will be responsible for the foundational engine that connects hundreds of thousands of real estate agents with their clients and spheres of influence. This is a platform PM role owning our high-volume email and push notification architecture that powers automated transactional and promotional communication for a wide range of products on our platform, as well as agent-managed email marketing campaigns. You will establish and refine the frameworks and governance models to empower all Compass Product & Engineering teams to build their own notifications that successfully send to the right people, at the right time, through the right channels. You will balance the need for a high-performance, scalable infrastructure with the creation of intuitive controls that ensure a premium, highly relevant, yet non-intrusive experience for agents and consumers.

The ideal candidate has a deep background in Email Service Providers (ESPs) and the complexities of managing large-scale deliverability and domain reputation. You are an autonomous operator with strong product judgment who can take ambiguous problem spaces and turn them into clear, well-scoped, sequenced plans. You are very organized and thrive while managing several initiatives to deeply understand complex business use cases across product teams and bring those to life. You find gratification in behind-the-scenes platform work and building robust foundations that create broad-based impact for the entire company. Understanding the big picture impact of decisions is your superpower and you seek to optimize for scalability and repeatability across your product area.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Notifications & Communications Platform, balancing near-term impact with long-term evolution.
  • Scale the Notifications Platform to enable hundreds of thousands of real estate agents at thousands of independent franchise brokerages to autonomously send and manage their promotional email marketing campaigns directly from the platform using natively built products.
  • Act as the go-to internal subject matter expert on email deliverability. Stay ahead of industry changes, translate them into platform capabilities, and drive their prioritization across product roadmaps.
  • Partner with our Email Service Provider to build and manage tooling to monitor domain health and sender analytics to maximize inbox deliverability for both system-generated and agent-generated communications.
  • Design and implement scalable notification settings and preference centers that give both agents and consumers granular control over their communication experience.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, UX Design, and cross-functional business teams while making data-informed trade-offs between scope, quality, and speed.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of product management experience (or equivalent) building and launching software products, including time spent owning foundational platform tools and services.
  • 2+ years specifically focused on email and push notifications, communications platforms, and/or email infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience with ESPs and high volume email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailgun, SendGrid, Mailchimp, Brevo). Nice to have: experience with high-volume voice and SMS communication platforms (e.g. Twilio, Sinch) and related compliance standards.
  • Expert-level knowledge of industry-leading deliverability best practices, commercial marketing regulatory compliance, authentication standards (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and domain reputation management.
  • Ability to distill complex technical constraints into clear product strategies for executive stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills with Engineering and UX Design teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication that brings clarity and instills confidence.
  • Ability to lead by influencing others, without the need to project formal authority, especially in cross-functional and executive settings.
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, high-growth and rapidly changing environment.
