Your Role

As a Principal Product Manager on the Payments team, you will own the systems and strategy that power Zip's global payments infrastructure and make Zip the safest and most seamless way to pay vendors across tens of billions in annual spend. You will drive product development across the payments platform -- including bank integrations, payment provider partnerships, payout management, and payment routing -- as well as payment controls covering risk and fraud prevention, bank account verification, payment onboarding, currency management, and payment compliance. You will partner closely with Engineering, Design, Payment Operations, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable payment infrastructure, proactively mitigate payment fraud, ensure smooth and secure payment onboarding, and manage payment compliance with confidence at enterprise scale.

You Will
  • Own the payments platform strategy and roadmap, including direct bank integrations, payment provider partnerships, and payment routing infrastructure that supports tens of billions in annual volume across 40+ currencies and 130+ countries

  • Drive the product strategy and roadmap to reduce payment risk -- including Zip's AI-powered fraud detection system that flags risky invoices directly to customers

  • Own bank account verification– expanding provider coverage, increasing geographic reach, and ensuring reliable real-time verification across customer segments.

  • Lead payments onboarding automation – building customer-facing workflows that reduce manual operational overhead and accelerate go-live.

  • Define product strategy for payment method management to help buyers and vendors transact seamlessly, including multi-provider support and payout group management.

  • Lead payments platform modernization -- expanding payment rails and payout capabilities, improving payment cycle times, and ensuring enterprise-grade reliability at scale.

  • Drive currency localization across Zip – enabling customers to support multi-currency workflows across all payment surfaces.

  • Collaborate deeply with engineering and design to define requirements, provide product direction, make tradeoffs, and deliver high-quality, enterprise-grade payment capabilities.

Qualifications
  • 6+ years of product management and 10+ years of overall professional experience; experience working on payments infrastructure, fintech, bank integrations, risk/fraud, or financial compliance is a requirement.

  • Ability to break down complex payment and risk problems into structured components and deliver clear product recommendations.

  • Technical fluency with the ability to partner effectively with engineering on integration architectures, API design, payment processing systems, and data-driven risk systems.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence without authority, and drive alignment across engineering, design, operations, and customer-facing teams.

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort using data to drive product decisions, measure fraud metrics, and evaluate risk model performance.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Bias to action, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
