Senior Project Lead, Energy Storage Advisory

JOB DESCRIPTION
UL Solutions is seeking a Senior Energy Advisory Project Lead to play a key role in delivering high-impact renewables projects and transactions across EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). This is a client-facing, transaction-focused position within our growing Renewables Advisory business, offering strong exposure to leading developers, investors and lenders.
The role centers on the delivery of technical and commercial due-diligence support for Independent Engineering (IE) and Technical Advisory (TA) projects across energy storage, solar and storage, and hybrid renewable portfolios. You will contribute directly to project financing, M&A and investment decisions by assessing risk, performance and bankability across complex projects.
The Senior Energy Advisory Project Lead integrates input from multidisciplinary teams to deliver consistent, high-quality advisory reports for our clients as well as supporting on team growth, mentoring other colleagues and supporting the growth in the region.
In this role, you will:

• Lead and deliver complex due diligence projects across storage, solar & storage and hybrid renewable portfolios
• Support major financing and transaction processes by reviewing contracts, financial models and technical documentation
• Prepare tailored, competitive proposals aligned with client needs and market standards
• Build strong client relationships and act as a primary point of contact on projects
• Contribute to team development through mentoring and knowledge sharing

This role can be based in a hybrid model from Barcelona, Pamplona, Milan, Warsaw or Dubai, or fully remote from the Netherlands, Germany or Italy.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform and lead technical due diligence reviews for energy storage and solar + storage hybrid projects supporting financing, acquisition, and development activities.
• Review and interpret project contracts, including EPC, BSA, interconnection, PPA, O&M, LTSA and major supply agreements, to identify technical and commercial risks.
• Analyze and validate financial models, assessing CAPEX, OPEX, warranties, degradation, performance assumptions, and other key financial drivers.
• Evaluate project energy use cases, operating profiles, and dispatch strategies to ensure alignment with technical capabilities and market conditions.
• Compile and complete TDD reports, summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations to ensure clarity, quality, and consistency.
• Integrate multidisciplinary input (engineering, financial, and environmental) to ensure a coherent and technically sound final deliverable.
• Work closely with Project Managers to ensure alignment with scope, timeline and budget, supporting efficient project delivery.
• Engage directly with clients, lenders, and developers, presenting technical results, responding to comments, and maintaining professional client relationships.
• Identify key risks and mitigation strategies, applying best practices and lessons learned across projects.
• Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
• Mentor junior team members and support knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal tools, templates, and methodologies for due diligence and advisory services.
• Travel occasionally (up to 15%) for client meetings, project delivery and industry events.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in energy storage, ideally within a technical advisory, developer or lender environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects, performing contract and financial model reviews for energy infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of project finance concepts, risk assessment, and bankability considerations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of how technical and contractual factors influence project economics.
• Proven client-facing delivery experience and comfort interacting with senior stakeholders.
• Ability and willingness to mentor junior staff and share expertise across the organization.
• Familiarity with European market, regulatory and policy frameworks related to energy storage.
• Fluent English required; additional local language relevant to the country of application is expected.

Salary range varies by location and local market conditions, and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and other factors. . As an indication, the annual salary range starts from PLN 170,000 gross in Poland and €60,000 gross in Italy. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
