Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability and lifetime of our iron-air packs and deployed systems. As part of our Systems Reliability team, you will lead reliability test development and design for reliability for our Battery Management System (BMS) hardware - a complex set of electronics controls built across PCBs, connectors, and bus bars, that is responsible for the control of our battery, its support systems, and sensors. We need you to define how to demonstrate reliability for a first of its kind product where there is no standard playbook. If you've spent your career making sure hardware lasts in the field — and want to do it at grid scale for a brand new technology— we want to talk to you!

Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:
  • Technical Leadership: Act as the primary authority on Design for Reliability (DfR) for critical electro-mechanical plant subsystems that support our battery plant, mentoring peers and guiding cross-functional design failure analyses (DFMEAs)

  • Translate high-level product goals into rigorous reliability requirements. You will define the roadmap for how we validate BMS sub-system lifetimes.

  • Design and lead complex experiments to uncover failure mechanisms, determine root causes, and establish methods to accelerate failure rates in tests. Tests will focus on BMS electronics including PCBs, connectors, and bus bars

  • Be a champion for safety

What you'll bring:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering or related field with 3+ years of industry experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing new tests to evaluate performance and/ or reliability of electrical and electromechanical systems

  • Experience with testing of PCBs and other electronic components

  • Familiar with developing accelerated lifetime tests to assess component reliability across a range of operating conditions

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills within a group of peers and the broader organization, including remote team members
