 Frontend Engineers at Lyft develop and own innovative web applications using JavaScript, React, and Sass - focused on design fidelity, usability, accessibility, and performance across desktop and mobile. You’ll work closely with designers, engineers, and stakeholders, often across multiple concurrent projects, while championing strong frontend standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and drive high-impact frontend projects and initiatives from concept to launch, aligning with business goals.
  • Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and high-performance frontend solutions, delivering exceptional user experiences.
  • Own key frontend systems and components, overseeing development, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership through architectural reviews, system design discussions, and promotion of engineering best practices.
  • Share knowledge via brown bags, tech talks, and mentoring, fostering team growth and skill development.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to unblock, support, and communicate effectively to achieve results.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, monitor systems proactively, lead post-incident reviews, and drive operational excellence initiatives.
Experience:
  • 4+ years of professional frontend engineering experience
  • Proven track record designing and leading large-scale frontend features and projects
  • Advanced knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
  • Expertise with modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React
  • Experience working with Next.js
  • Strong understanding of web performance, browser internals, and the DOM
  • Highly skilled in responsive design, and design language systems
  • Experience with comprehensive testing (unit, integration, end-to-end)
  • Skilled at writing clear, scalable design documentation and leading architectural discussions
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product and Design
  • Experience leading frontend teams and guiding planning, prioritization, and execution
  • Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative, creative approach to problem-solving
  • Nice to have: Experience with accessibility
  • Nice to have: Experience of GraphQL

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $148,000 - $185,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
