Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack, Rewards & Incentives

RAIN owns member-facing capabilities including points, achievements, streaks, challenges, tiers, and digital and physical incentives. We work across mobile experiences, backend services, experimentation, and operational tooling to make these experiences useful, reliable, measurable, and easy to evolve.

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you’ll own meaningful product work across the front end and backend, from technical discovery through production. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering partners to turn member needs into simple, reliable, and measurable solutions.

• Build and operate full-stack features using JavaScript, TypeScript, React Native, NestJS, and Node.js.

• Own projects from technical design through launch, measurement, iteration, and ongoing maintenance.

• Develop well-tested APIs, data models, and mobile experiences for rewards and incentives.

• Translate product ideas into practical solutions and make thoughtful trade-offs between member value, quality, simplicity, and delivery speed.

• Improve reliability through testing, observability, performance improvements, and production support.

• Contribute to architectural decisions, technical documentation, code reviews, and reducing technical debt.

• Use Claude Code and other approved AI tools as part of your development workflow.

• Provide clear context, plan work, review generated changes critically, and validate behavior with tests and running code.

• Mentor teammates and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.

You will work closely with:

• Product, to define problems, shape roadmaps, prioritize work, and measure outcomes.

• Design and User Experience, to create clear and motivating member experiences.

• Data and Analytics, to design experiments, understand member behavior, and evaluate impact.

• Adjacent Engineering, Platform, Quality, Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams to integrate services and deliver safe, dependable experiences.

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field.

• 3+ years of non-internship full-time professional software development experience.

• Experience building and operating production software as a full-stack engineer.

• Strong fundamentals in API design, data modeling, testing, debugging, and frontend development.

• Ability to take ownership of ambiguous problems and deliver practical solutions incrementally.

• Experience making technical decisions across service boundaries and explaining trade-offs clearly.

• A product mindset and interest in connecting engineering work to member needs and measurable outcomes.

• Clear communication and effective collaboration with cross-functional partners.

• Good judgment when using AI coding tools, including providing context, reviewing generated code, and maintaining ownership of architecture, security, and maintainability.

• Experience with machine learning, including training or fine-tuning models.

• Experience integrating hosted machine-learning models in the cloud.

• Experience with rewards, incentives, gamification, engagement, or other consumer-facing products.

• Experience working in privacy, security, or compliance-sensitive environments.

• You deliver reliable rewards and incentives capabilities that create clear value for members.

• You become a trusted technical partner to Product, Design, Data, and Engineering.

• You improve the clarity, reliability, and maintainability of the systems you touch.

• You help the team use AI-assisted development effectively without compromising engineering quality.

You’ll work on a high-impact product area that connects software, behavior change, and better health outcomes. You’ll join a small, cross-functional team where engineers have meaningful influence over product and technical decisions and own their systems in production.

This is a hybrid role based in the San Francisco office, requiring in-person attendance three days per week for a full 8-hour business day. On remote days, employees are expected to work during core business hours with flexibility. The office is part of a dog-friendly workplace program, and while travel is not regularly required, occasional off-site or on-site events may occur. Physical demands are minimal and primarily involve standard office activities such as sitting, typing, and video conferencing.
