About the role

Muon seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our Software Test team. An ideal candidate is an expert in software testing processes, an accomplished software tool developer, and experienced with Hardware-in-the-Loop and Simulations driven testing. In this role, you will be a major contributor to the best-practices and architecture of our software testing infrastructure. You will work with engineers across our department to implement testing policy and deliver testing capabilities, improving our velocity and ability to launch successful missions. This position is based at our San Jose, CA office.

Responsibilities 
  • Build and support in-house software testing infrastructure, including hardware testbed capabilities as well as simulated test scenarios.
  • Break down complex technical goals into detailed and well-explained proposals.
  • Integrate feedback from client teams to drive iterative improvements to our testing tools and procedures.
  • Expand test coverage by developing novel off-nominal test scenarios.
  • Work closely with the Simulations team to integrate simulation tools into automated testing campaigns.
  • Lead by example with reliable estimation and planning.
  • Ensure team alignment with company goals and success against performance metrics.
  • Mentor Test and Simulation team engineers.
Qualifications 
  • Proven ability to deliver reliable software testing infrastructure.
  • B.S. or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 8+ years' experience as a software engineer in a team environment.
  • Strong programming experience in Python.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g. Github Actions).
  • Familiarity with Linux systems administration and Docker containers.
  • Willingness to operate in novel technical domains.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Knowledge of C/C++.
  • Fluency in statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with common electronics test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers).
  • Experience testing embedded hardware projects, like robotics, autonomous vehicles, or aerospace.
  • Experience designing infrastructure or orchestration for running and reporting on end-to-end integration tests on large multi-component systems.
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop integration testing.
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment environments, like Kubernetes and virtual instances.
  • Experience with Software-in-the-Loop simulation.
Salary

The salary range for this role is $213,000 - $237,000 plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
