About AtlasBase

AtlasBase is a fast-growing pioneer in Molecular Computing, bridging the gap between traditional IT and biotechnology. We are redefining global IT infrastructure by driving breakthroughs in both Molecular Compute and Molecular Data Storage. By commercializing synthetic DNA-based technologies at IT scale, AtlasBase delivers ultra-high-density, low-maintenance, and carbon-conscious solutions built for the explosive growth and value of the world's data. Leveraging nature’s most durable medium, we provide a virtually permanent foundation that transforms how the world processes and secures its most critical information.

Originally spun out of Twist Bioscience, our team is an elite fusion of scientists, engineers, and operators dedicated to solving some of the most complex infrastructure challenges on Earth. While our work is grounded in deep science, our success depends on world-class talent across every discipline. We are seeking Senior Staff System Software Engineer who is ready to bring their expertise to a high-impact environment and help us build a brand-new category of technology.

About the Role:

As a Senior Staff System Software Engineer, you will be an essential member of our engineering team. You'll help architect, design, and implement system and instrument software across our stack.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Architecting and implementing distributed software to drive complex hardware systems and instruments focused on high-capacity synthesis of DNA.
  • Developing high-performance pipelines capable of handling large data payloads while ensuring end-to-end data integrity.
  • Working closely with hardware, electronics and chemistry teams.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, with significant experience in a Staff-level or equivalent senior technical leadership role.
  • Expertise in system level languages including C#, C++ or Rust.
  • Demonstrable understanding of memory management, allocation strategies, multi-threading, high-performance messaging and inter-process communication across multiple languages and runtimes to ensure smooth, consistent and reliable operation in distributed system architectures
  • Proven ability to write performant, low-latency, and optimized code, particularly when dealing with very large data payloads (multi-gigabyte to terabyte scale).

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience working directly with hardware systems, bring-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
