About the company

Our client is a fast-growing software company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Build and ship AI-driven automation features end to end, from backend logic through to the user-facing interface. Work directly with internal users to turn loosely defined problems into reliable, production-ready software, and help set engineering patterns for the wider team.

What you'll do

- Build and release new automated workflows powered by AI models.

- Design and refine evaluation frameworks that decide whether model output is reliable enough to release.

- Improve how the platform ingests, indexes and assembles contextual data for AI components.

- Create tools and interfaces that put AI capabilities into users' daily work.

- Establish patterns and tooling for AI-assisted development that the rest of the team can build on.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- 3+ years of software engineering experience.

- Hands-on experience running large language models in production, including evaluation and safety guardrails.

- Full-stack ability, shipping both backend logic and user-facing interfaces with a modern stack.

- Ownership of problems from start to finish, moving from an ambiguous problem to a shipped solution without a detailed spec.

- A focus on correctness and reliability as well as functionality.

- Experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup; Big Tech experience is best paired with startup experience.

- Enthusiasm for an early-stage startup environment.

- A degree in computer science or a closely related technical discipline.

- Living within commuting distance of the Bay Area and comfortable being on site three midweek days each week; relocation support is not offered.

Bonus points

- Background in a regulated domain.

- Familiarity with Python and TypeScript.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
