Job Description

We are seeking a Software Product Manager to own and drive acquisition software, instrument-control capabilities, and software drivers for LC/MS and, as the role evolves, selected GC/MS workflows. This role, located in the Workflows and Data Analysis Product Management team of Agilent's Liquid Phase Division (LPD), is responsible for end-to-end product lifecycle management, from strategy and requirements through development, release, and lifecycle optimization.

You will work at the intersection of LC/MS science, instrument control, software, and customer workflows, partnering closely with instrument and software R&D, quality, support, marketing, and commercial teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and customer-centric acquisition solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy, roadmap, and prioritized backlog for LC/MS acquisition software, instrument control, and related software drivers
  • Translate customer workflows, field feedback, instrument requirements, and regulatory needs into clear software requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Define and continuously refine acquisition capabilities, instrument-control functions, driver requirements, and release strategies to maximize customer and business value
  • Coordinate across instrument, software, firmware, driver, and test teams to align interfaces, dependencies, integration milestones, and release readiness
  • Manage the lifecycle of supported LC/MS instruments and drivers, including new-product introduction, compatibility, upgrades, maintenance, defect prioritization, and obsolescence planning
  • Partner with commercial marketing, support, and field organizations on product positioning, launch readiness, technical enablement, and escalation of customer-impacting issues
  • Align acquisition software with adjacent data analysis, informatics, compliance, automation, and chromatography solutions to deliver coherent end-to-end LC/MS workflows

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct market, competitive, and installed-base research to identify acquisition software and connectivity opportunities and validate product direction
  • Serve as the product and workflow expert for LC/MS acquisition, instrument control, device communication, and driver compatibility, while shaping the strategy for next-generation customer software.
  • Work with R&D and quality teams to define release scope, assess technical and customer risk, support verification priorities, and make lifecycle trade-offs
  • Help drive the evolution of Agilent's MassHunter Acquisition software ecosystem and next-generation LC/MS workflows, with secondary support for applicable GC/MS capabilities, serving laboratories worldwide
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Analytical Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Typically, 8+ years of relevant experience in product management, scientific software, instrument control, software drivers, or LC/MS applications
  • Experience with or the ability to quickly learn LC/MS acquisition workflows, instrument control, hardware/software interfaces, and analytical laboratory operations
  • Strong experience and interest in managing software product backlogs for instrument-facing scientific software across the product lifecycle
  • Understanding of software drivers, device communication, compatibility management, and integration across instruments, firmware, operating systems, and laboratory software
  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes, particularly product and portfolio backlog management
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and translate customer, service, and engineering needs into actionable product requirements
  • Experience working in cross-functional global teams, including software and instrument R&D, quality, support, and commercial organizations
  • Preferably, knowledge of regulated laboratory environments, software validation, cybersecurity, and compatibility expectations for instrument-control software

Key Competencies

  • Ability to identify and address market needs through market analysis and voice-of-customer research
  • Ability to build and maintain product and portfolio backlogs for MassHunter Acquisition
  • Strong systems thinking across software, drivers, firmware, instruments, chromatography devices, and customer workflows
  • Ability to balance new-product introductions, platform evolution, compatibility, maintenance, and customer-impacting defects
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across technical, quality, support, and commercial teams
