About Betterment

Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission, to empower people to build wealth with confidence and ease.  We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays).

About the Role

Betterment is looking for a Senior Manager, Commercial Operations & Deal Desk to serve as the execution arm of our Revenue Operations team, reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Revenue Operations. As our commercial engine grows, you'll own our Revenue Operations processes (spanning supporting our go-to-market and post-sales teams) and own Deal Desk and Promotions.

This role calls for someone who thinks like a process owner first: you are someone who notices friction and inefficiency before anyone flags it, and is motivated to design it out of the system rather than work around it. You’ll map how work actually flows across those handoffs today and redesign it so it holds up as we scale, including partnering with our Business Systems & Tools team, who own the technical build.

Deal Desk and promotions carry real dollar and margin impact, so you’ll be trusted to partner with Sales, Finance, and Legal and make judgment calls without every decision being checked. This is a high-visibility individual contributor role for an operator who wants real autonomy and wants a direct, dollar impact on Betterment’s growth.

This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.

  • New York City: $135,000- $160,000

This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus.

A Day in the Life:
  • Own the operational process and design for our commercial workflows end to end across Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience - from lead handoff, through approvals and contracting, to onboarding and renewal
  • Manage deal desk decisions - from structuring deals / pricing, to reviewing and approving Statements of Work, to conducting monthly audits to ensure complete consistency between opportunity records
  • Own promotion development and operationalize pricing end to end - designing the offer, aligning stakeholders, and driving execution across Sales, Finance, and Legal
  • Partner closely with Betterment's Revenue Operations Enablement function on rollout of new deal structures, promotions, and process changes to the stakeholders you support
What We’re Looking For:
  • 7+ years of experience in deal desk, sales operations, commercial operations, or a related function, ideally within a B2B SaaS, fintech, or financial services environment
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to build and maintain pricing and margin analyses and reporting / dashboards that translate deal data into actionable insights
  • Demonstrated experience structuring and negotiating non-standard commercial deals and promotions, including pricing and discounting
  • Hands-on expertise designing commercial processes across the full funnel (in end-to-end commercial process), with a track record of building  workflows that scale with growth
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with a track record of partnering effectively with Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, Legal, and Finance stakeholders
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and building net-new processes and policies from scratch with a genuine operational efficiency mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain commercial and contractual concepts clearly to broader audiences
  • Comfortable operating with real decision-making autonomy.  Prior people management experience is a plus; this role is an individual contributor to start, with the path to people management
  • A bias toward action and pragmatism, balanced with the judgment to know when a deal or promotion needs additional scrutiny. Strong working knowledge of Salesforce and other go-to-market systems / tooling
