About Us:

At Fireworks, we’re building the future of generative AI infrastructure. Our platform delivers the highest-quality models with the fastest and most scalable inference in the industry. We’ve been independently benchmarked as the leader in LLM inference speed and are driving cutting-edge innovation through projects like our own function calling and multimodal models. Fireworks is a Series C company valued at $4 billion and backed by top investors including Benchmark, Sequoia, Lightspeed, Index, and Evantic. We’re an ambitious, collaborative team of builders, founded by veterans of Meta PyTorch and Google Vertex AI.

About the Team

Finance and Business Operations at Fireworks sits at the heart of how we scale — from the infrastructure powering our inference cloud to the financial cadence driving company-wide decisions. We work closely with engineering, product, and leadership to make smart, fast bets with our resources. This is a team where rigor meets speed, and where your work will directly shape how one of the most important infrastructure companies in AI grows.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Sr. Manager or Director of Strategic Finance to lead infrastructure capacity and financial planning, and serve as the finance partner to our Engineering and Product teams.

You'll be the financial architect behind how we invest in GPUs and infrastructure — the backbone of everything we do. Beyond the modeling, you'll be embedded with our engineering and product teams, helping them make better decisions faster by bringing financial rigor to roadmap tradeoffs, headcount planning, and strategic investments. This is a role for someone equally comfortable in a spreadsheet and in a room full of engineers.

This role is based in our San Mateo, CA office on a hybrid schedule.

What You'll Do
  • Own capacity planning across compute infrastructure — modeling GPU, storage, and networking needs against current and projected demand
  • Lead financial planning for infrastructure investments, including scenario modeling, vendor analysis, and cost optimization
  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to Engineering and Product — supporting roadmap prioritization, investment tradeoffs, and resource allocation decisions
  • Develop deep fluency in contract structures and pricing to identify and capture optimization opportunities
  • Build and maintain financial models that connect infrastructure spend to business outcomes
  • Translate complex technical plans into clear financial frameworks that inform executive decision-making
  • Stay current on compute market trends and competitive dynamics to sharpen our infrastructure strategy
What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, or private equity, with 3–4+ years in a finance operating role at a high-growth technology company
  • Experience as a finance business partner to engineering or product teams — you know how to build trust with technical stakeholders and make yourself indispensable
  • Strong grasp of cloud and compute infrastructure economics — you understand how GPU capacity, utilization, and pricing models actually work
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills; you can build from scratch and work comfortably under ambiguity
  • Clear, confident communicator — equally effective presenting to engineers, product leaders, and the C-suite
  • A bias for action and a track record of driving outcomes under ambitious timelines
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA a plus
Why Fireworks AI?
  • Solve Hard Problems: Tackle challenges at the forefront of AI infrastructure, from low-latency inference to scalable model serving.
  • Build What’s Next: Work with bleeding-edge technology that impacts how businesses and developers harness AI globally.
  • Ownership & Impact: Join a fast-growing, passionate team where your work directly shapes the future of AI—no bureaucracy, just results.
  • Learn from the Best: Collaborate with world-class engineers and AI researchers who thrive on curiosity and innovation.

Fireworks AI is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all innovators.
